Things are especially bad on PC, where players in the Wild Hearts subreddit say that the game is “poorly optimized.” Even computers that meet or exceed the recommended system requirements are unable to get consistent framerates even at extremely low resolutions, with one player sayingit doesn’t matter whether they play at 4K or 720p.

Things are only marginally better on other platforms. Here we have an Xbox Series X player noting thedifference between their in-game screenshots and the promotional images released by EA. They definitely look like two different games. Other players have provided extreme examples ofbad textures and foliagemaking the world seem a lot more artificial than what was portrayed in trailers.GamesRadarnotes that Wild Hearts' visuals are also a “blurry mess” on PS5, so don’t think PlayStation players have escaped unscathed.

Somefansthink that the full version of the game might be different from the trial version that’s currently available. It’s certainly possible that EA and developer Koei Tecmo just didn’t have the time to produce an optimized demo and the full game will be much better. But there’s also some evidence suggesting that what you see is what you get.

The biggest clue is Koei Tecmo acknowledging the problems with Wild Heartsin another Reddit post. “Omega Force is working continuously to improve performance and optimize the game for a wide variety of hardware specs across future updates,” a developer wrote. “We have a patch coming next week that addresses a CPU bottleneck problem the team discovered; this should improve performance across mid-high-end CPUs. The team is also actively working on DLSS and FSR support which will arrive in a future patch.”

Omega Force is asking early access previewers to submit their reports via the linkhere. Wild Hearts arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on February 16.
