If you have gotten familiar withThe Witcher 3’shorse riding and want to show off your skills in Skellige, you will want to look for a series of races called The Heroes' Pursuits. They are a collection of side quests that have Geralt ride against the best that the archipelago has to offer.

The first three races on Ard Skellig are little more than a warmup before a true challenge on Hindarsfjall held in Freya’s honor. It’s more than just glory on the line; each race will give you some of the best equipment for Roach for emerging victorious.
The Heroes Pursuits Explained
There arefour races on Skellige,three on Ard Skellig, and one on Hindarsfjall. You will have towin all three of Ard Skellig’s racesto be able to compete in the final race on Hindarsfjall.
You can start each race byvisiting their starting linesand talking to the race master. While each course is different, the contest is the same.Be the first to reach the finish line.

Fayrlund
This racestarts on a road northeast of Fayrlund, near Rannvaig on Ard Skellig. It will pit youagainst two riderson a short course passing along the coast on the island’s cliffs.
Pay particular attention to Red Rikka.She isnoticeably fasterthan most opponents and willpull aheadat the start of the race. While she holds an advantage at the start of the race, shedoes not always take the faster route,giving you several chances to overtake her.

Geralt will receive50 crownsandZerrikanian Saddlebags,which increase Roach’s carrying capacity by100 points.
Fyresdal
The starting line isbetween the town of Blandareandthe Palisade Fast Travel point.This race isrelatively longand will bring you to the Ard Skellig’s southern coast at Fyresdal.
While the course issimple and without many obstacles,it will test your ability tomanage Roach’s stamina.Geralt will be awarded50 crownsand aCavalry Saddlewhich increases Roach’s staminaby 60 points.

Kaer Trolde
You start this raceon the road northeast of Rannvaig.This is another long race thatruns all the way to Kaer Trolde.
Once again, you should payclose attention to Roach’s stamina.The other riders arenot particularly skilled,though they will overtake you if you aren’t careful.

Winning the race will get you80 crownsandZerrikanian Blinderswhich add60 points to Roach’s fear level,making her easier to control around monsters.

Svana, the priestess managing the race,will not let you compete unless you won the first three races.Once you have done so, she willlet you compete against the previous winner, Astrid the Vipress.
Not only doesAstrid ride fast like Red Rikka,but the course also consists ofsharp turnsthat will test your ability to stay on track. The trick is toturn tighter than Astridat each opportunity to maintain your lead.

Winning will get you90 crownsand theZerrikanian saddle,which increases Roach’s stamina by80 points.
