It is easy to forget, with all the hostility and suspicion in Novigrad, that the city is far from the worst place inThe Witcher 3to live. At the very least it has a strong set of walls, food, and guards protecting it. Much more than the war-torn swamps of Velen.

In one of the harder side quests to find, Geralt may encounter a group of refugees attempting to enter Novigrad. Their journey is brought to an end by a soldier that needs to see their papers. Geralt will be able to get them into the city, though it may come at a cost.

Finding The Refugees For A Warm Welcome

These refugees are tantalizingly close to Novigrad,on the road south of Seven Cats Inn.You will see themarguing with a guardby the road. The groupdo not have their papers,preventing them from entering the city.

They will ask Geralt to help them convince the guard, which gives youfour options.

Bribe The Guard

The bribe is100 crowns,which is not a small amount of money especially early in the game. The guardwill let them through.

Axii

You canuse Axii on the guardso long as you haveDelusion at level two.

Fight The Guards

Threatening the guards will lead to a fightagainst all three of them.

Geralt willnot help the refugees and leave.

Finding The Treasure

If youhelp the refugees,they will mention a tomb belonging to a powerful hero somewhere near Downwarren before departing. The game doesn’t give you a quest marker, though we have dug around the area to see what they were talking about.

They are talking aboutDragonslayer’s Grotto,where you findGriffin School Armor.

You will need tosearch the hills surrounding Downwarren.The one in question is to thewest of the town,up a steep cliff. You will need theEye of Nehaleni,unlocked from the questWandering In The Dark.

The area hasa wyvern patrolling it,which you should be wary of, especially at lower levels.
