Golden Cicada Shells are collectable items inWo Long: Fallen Dynasty. There is roughly one in each Main Battlefield, with some having two to find. There are 21 in total, and you are to give these shells to a man standing on top of the lowest tower in the Hidden Village.

There are no Golden Cicada Shells in Part One or Part Seven of the game. If you missed any, don’t fret, you may replay any mission and find them. Shells only spawn once, so the next time you pick an item up where it’s supposed to be, it will be randomised if you’ve already claimed it.
Golden Cicada Shell Uses
You give the Golden Cicada Shells to aHermit in the Hidden Village.You can find him positioned precariously at thevery top of a toweron the lowest bit of the village.
Handing over 21 shells will reward you with various randomised gear and items. The main goal of giving him these shells is that he will eventually drop a Tablet Note item, which could be the final one you’re missing.Giving him 21 cicadas also unlocks the Ascension achievement.
Golden Cicada Shell Locations - Part Two Main Battlefields
In Part Two of the game, there are four Main Battlefields. In each one, a single Golden Cicada Shell is hiding, and you must track it down.
Location
Two Chivalrous Heroes
From the Flag immediately after the ape demon boss, follow the path until you come to a gate. Go through the gate, turn right and climb the wooden scaffoldingto reach the roof. Run across and jump up the next ledge.Turn leftand take the path across themakeshift wooden bridgeto find the first shell.
Valley of Crying Wraiths
From the Battle Flag guarded by the tiger demon, head up the path andclimb to the Warlockfiring magic at you from above. Run across the first bridge andthen stop before the gapin the second one. Drop down the gap to find the shell.
Demon Fort of the Yellow Turban
From thethird Battle Flagin the camp, you’ll see some buildings anda red glowing tree.Make your way to the glowing tree by jumping the houses. In front of thered vines, turn right and climbthe building. Jump up and go over the roof to find the shell,overlooking the third battle flag.
Total Shells Gathered: Three
Golden Cicada Shell Locations - Part Three Main Battlefields
At this point, you will have collected three Golden Cicada Shells in total. Feel free to deliver them to the hermit in the Hidden Village at this point, or you could save them all up to deliver them all at once; it makes no difference to the rewards.
The next few shells to find are in the Main Battlefields in Part Three. The are two shells to find in the Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch.
In Search of the Immortal Wizard
As you enter the cave with the final Battle Flag, there is abranch on your leftthat you can walk up.Jump the gap to your left to get the shell.
Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch (1/2)
Claim the Battle Flag on the bottom floor of the dungeon. Climb up the ladder,run left down the broken stairs,and into thejail cell on the right. The shell is on the floor.
Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch (2/2)
In thecourtyard before you face the boss, climb on to the roof of the long bridge patrolled by the Demonised Officer.Run to the other end of the roof and jumpacross to a ledge on the main building,almost directly above the final Battle Flag. The shell is on the roof.

Golden Cicada Shell Locations - Part Four Main Battlefields
Part Four of Wo Long has several Battlefields to tackle, and there are six Golden Cicada Shells to grab in the coming missions.
The Battle of Hulaoguan Pass
At the second Battle Flag, run into the trench and headall the way to the right. The cicada is at the end of the path.
Centuries of Glory Burned Away (1/2)
Claim the second Battle Flag in the town streets. From the flag, go left through the street, take a leftdown the alleywayand turn left again. The shell isbehind the patch of fire to your left.
Centuries of Glory Burned Away (2/2)
After the section with the dragon, follow the path and keep the canals on your left.Drop down at the broken bridge, heading towards the tunnelto the left of the lone platformwith a marking flag on it. The shell is at the end of the tunnel.
Darkness Over the Hanshui River
From the first Battle Flag,go to the right.There will be a ladder and a tower on your left,but go forwards to the crashed boatin front of you. The shell is hidden on a lower level, drop to it from the boat.
Tyrant’s Final Banquet (1/2)
Climb the vinesby the first Battle Flag. Run forwards across the ramparts and stop when you go up a set of stairs.Walk to the barrier on your rightand jump down to thelong golden gate.The shell will be behind you when you drop down.
Tyrant’s Final Banquet (2/2)
After you beat Feng Xi, the boar demon, rest at the final Battle Flag.Turn around and take the left door.Climb thebroken wagon in front of youand get onto the roof. The cicada is on the very top of this building.

Golden Cicada Shell Locations - Part Five Main Battlefields
From this point in the game, the Main Battlefields are longer and tougher. You’ll have your work cut out for you in these missions, so if you’re collecting these shells as you go, you should take your time instead of rushing. Getting to the final mission and running Battlefields retroactively will be easy.
War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely (1/2)
From the fourth Battle Flag, go forward and turn right to take apath through a gap in the wall. Follow this path,turn right at the tree,andright at the endof the route. There will be a chest with the shell inside, guarded by a dog and a soldier.
War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely (2/2)
From the above shell, turn around andgo across the red bridge. Drain the water and jump down. Take theright pathat the end of the canal,leading into a tunnel. In the tunnel, take the route to theright, and then take the next two lefts.One corridor will have Terracotta soldiers. At the end of the path, you’ll see a chest on a platform. The Shell is in the chest.
The Way of the Warrior
From the first Battle Flag, go to thegreen branch.Jump off to the left,and you’ll see a lone tree at the end. The shell is atthe foot of the tree. There’s a crocodile demon waiting to ambush you on the right.
Lu Bu, Mightest Among Men
Around theleft side of the large buildingthat has the final Battle Flag inside, before you fight Lu Bu.

Golden Cicada Shell Locations - Part Six Main Battlefields
These last two Main Battlefields have the final Golden Cicada Shells to collect. There are none to find in Part Seven, which serves as the final part of the game. If you’re missing one shell, it might be the one found in the Hidden Village.
Behold, the Glaive of Righteousness (1/2)
When you drop into the foggy village, go forward andtake the first leftand pass by a tree. Keep going,passing under a bridgeand forwards until you find atower with a ladder.Climb up and grab the cicada on a nearby branch.
Behold, the Glaive of Righteousness (2/2)
In the tomb area after the fifth Battle Flag. Go up the stairs andtake the left pathto a room withtwo stone soldierson your right. Ignore them andclimb the stonesin front of you.Ignore the ladderand run through the large red sack. The shell is at the end of the path.
The Decisive Battle of Guandu (1/2)
Claim the second Battle Flag and continue on the main path. Follow thered vine pathuntil you see aline of massive stone soldiersnext to an imposing gate. Facing them,go to the right and drop downto a hidden ledge to find the shell.
The Decisive Battle of Guandu (2/2)
After beating Yuan Shao, grab the Battle Flag outside.Turn to the left and look downto see a platform. Jump down andpass by the panda demonto find the shell.

Golden Cicada Shell Locations - The Hidden Village
This could be the final Golden Cicada Shell you pick up, or it might be the first. It’s located at the bottom of the tower, where you find the hermit asking for the cicadas.
Hidden Village
Make your way down to thelowest level, and you’ll find it in a tower. There is a large tree root connecting the path to the tower.
Total Shells Gathered: 21
That’s all the Golden Cicada Shells to collect in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Now, all you have to do is go to the top of the tower and give them all to the slightly dubious hermit for several rewards.
After you give him 21 shells, he should give you aTablet Note item, which you will need to complete the minor side quest from the record keeper. If he doesn’t drop the item, reload the area and keep talking to him.
The quest seems somewhat bugged, but you should get it eventually if you keep reloading and talking to him.
