While the Devil’s Arms have the potential of being the best weapons in the game, they grow stronger based on how many kills their wielder has accumulated throughout their adventure. This means that, in theory, some weapons may be stronger when you acquire them but will eventually be surpassed by the Devil’s Arm after you accrue more kills, either by farming or tackling New Game Plus.
Devil’s Arms Overview
Obtaining theDevil’s Armsis always an exciting activity in a Tales of game, but theirodd damage scalingwill always trip newcomers up, as the strongest weapons in the game may not be so strong when you first acquire them. For starters, youcannot gain access to the true formof the Devil’s Arms until after youfinish what is the tenth step in this Guide, which is one of the most challenging aspects of the entire game.
Furthermore, theDevil’s Armsallgrow in power based on how many kills you racked upthroughout your playthrough, whichcan be carried over to your New Game Plussave by purchasing the “Battle Info” from theGrade Shopfor10 Grade. The more kills you get, the harder your weapon hits and the faster your enemy dies. Simple, right? However, there is one more twist here, being thatthere is a cap on how far these weapons will scale.you’re able to find that information below!

Reaching5,000 Killswith a characterwillmax their Devil’s Arm Strengthat 4,000.While it is sort of a bummer that there is a limit, the limit is still ridiculously high, making these arms the best in the game by a landslide. So, if the question is whether or not these are worth the hassle to track down, we say absolutely! Especially if you plan on jumping into New Game Plus after you roll credits.
Step 1: Colette’s Devil’s Arm
Thefirst Devil’s Armyou will want to gun for is theEvil Eye,which is the one thatColettecan equip. To find this weapon, head to theToize Valley Mine.Make your way over to theboulder trap, thentake the elevator next to it down.Once here, there will be aNaploosa Bacurain a pile of rubble.Examine thisto obtain theEvil Eye Ringand to begin the Devil’s Arms side-quests. Youmust do this step firstin order to get the remaining eight Devil’s Arms.

Next is to ensure you haveeight people in your group,as some members will constantly rotate in and out of your party. Once things have stabilized, and you have eight characters locked and ready to go, head toFlanoir.Once here, make your way to thebuilding to the right of the Inn.You will seea man sitting just outsidethe door. This isAbyssion.Speak with him to receive theNebilim Devil’s Arm.This weapon isTwin Blades, allowingLloydto equip them.
Abyssionwill also give you theNebilim’s Key,enabling you toopen chests around the worldthatcontain the remaining seven Devil’s Arms.Again, ensure you have eight people in your group, as you will need them to obtain every Devil’s Arm. If you don’t, you should tackle this a bit later when you do, as it will save you lots of confusion and frustration.

Step 3: Kratos' or Zelos' First Devil’s Arm
Moving on, the next Devil’s Arm can be equipped by eitherKratos or Zelos,so make sure either of them is in your group. Once that is clear, head toTriet. When here, head towhere theItems Shopis andtalk to the man nearby, who will talk about a “Monstrous Creature” in the desert. Before leaving, navigate totheOasisandspeak to another manhere, who willfurther elaborateon said creature.
After doing this, exit Trietandexplore the desert via the overworlduntil aglowing ring randomly appears. When you see this, interact with it to begin a small encounterwith aSandworm. This fightisn’t too difficult, especially if youuse Water-based Tech.If you find yourself struggling here, we recommend trying a different party composition or coming back later. Regardless, afterdefeating the Sandworm, you will receive theSoul Eater Devil’s Arm,aSwordthat can either beequipped by Kratos or Zelos.

Step 4: Kratos' or Zelos' Second Devil’s Arm
Keeping on the topic of aDevil’s Armthatcan be used byeitherKratos or Zelos,we have theFafnir, our next target. You must havemade it to the point in the storywhere yourSorcerer’s Ringgetsimbuedwith thepower of light.Otherwise, you will not be able to advance. If you meet those requirements, head totheGaoracchia Forestbyentering from the Ozette side. From there, navigate to the north twice(two screen transitions). Next, you will want tohead to the right anduse the Sorcerer’s Ringtomelt the plants in your way, opening a new pathway.
Follow this pathwayuntil youreach a Chest at the endof it. Thanks to the key you obtained from Abyssion earlier, you canopen it to acquiretheFafnir Dagger,aDevil’s Armthat eitherKratos or Zelos can equip!- And, yes, since Kratos and Zelos cannot be in a party together due to events that take place in the story, one of them will have access to two Devil’s Arms. While both are excellent, the Soul Eater is a bit better all around.

Step 5: Sheena’s Devil’s Arm
Now that Kratos and Zelos are done hogging the spotlight, it’s time to getSheenaherDevil’s Arm.to do this, you will have toprogress past the pointwhereSheena forges a pact with Gnomefor herEarth Spirit Summonin theTemple of Earth. After doing this, you will want tohead to Altessa’s House, locatedjust east of Ozette.Once there, you will find aGnomeletteon theleft end of the house.
Speak to the Gnometteand thenhead back to the Temple of Earth. When here, make your way over to the area previously blockedby Gnomelettes when you first visited the Temple tohave them suddenly move out of your way, revealing a pathwayto aChest. With the Nebilim’s Key,open it to receivetheGates of Hell,aCard Devil’s Arm,making it a perfect fit forSheena!

Step 6: Presea’s Devil’s Arm
Presea’s Devil’s Armis next and is very straightforward to obtain.Head totheLatheon Gorge, thenmove to the next areain the Gorge. From there, you willsee a ramp that leads downward.Follow it until you reach another rampthatleads you further down, but this timeto the left.Stay on this path until youreach a Chest.Pop it open with the key to acquire theDiablos,anAxe Devil’s Armthat will allowPreseato dish out unrelenting amounts of damage.
Step 7: Regal’s Devil’s Arm
Speaking of easy-to-obtain Devil’s Arms, Regal’s is just as easy to get your hands on as Presea’s is, so let’s go over how to do just that. Before doing so, youmust progress past the pointin the storywhere Colette escapes the Prison, clearing the Transporterin the process. After doing that, head backtoWelgaiaanduse that same Transporterto move into a new area. Once here, there will betwo buildings. Enter the one that is facing you.Once inside, take the first door on the left, open the Chest, and acquire theApocalypse. These areLeg Guards Devil’s Arms, making them perfect forRegal!
Step 8: Genis' Devil’s Arm
Genisis next in line, and his isa bit confusing. It’s not hard by any stretch, but thanks tohis Devil’s Arms being accessed in different waysacross themany different portsof this game, this one trips many people up. For starters, let’s coverwhat is needed in all versionsof the game. First, you must have the Fafnir(Kratos' or Zelos' Devil’s Arms). Then, youmust travel to the Hotel in Altamiraandspend the night. When prompted if you want toexplore at night, choose yes, and thenhead to the Casino.
This is where things get tricky. In this version(Tales of Symphonia Remastered) and thePS2, PS3, and PCversions, you willpurchase the Devil’s Playthingin theCasinofor250 Chips. After purchasing this item, it will be revealed to be theDisaster Devil’s Arm.Inall other versions, however, you will obtain this byheading outside the Casinoandtalking to a man on the nearby bridge. He willsell you a Kendamafor1,000 Gald, which will also be theDisaster Devil’s Arm.

Step 9: Raine’s Devil’s Arm
Ourfinal Devil’s Armbelongs toRaineandcan only be accessed after you obtain the eight othersabove. Once you have all eight Devil’s Arms, head backtoFlanoirandspeak to Abyssion, who is stilllocated on the house’s front stoopto theright of the Inn.Upon doing so,Abyssionwill make someremarks about heading to the Temple of Darkness. However,do not go thereafter this conversation. Instead, travel to Hakonesia Peakandspeak with Koton.
To receivetheHeart of Chaos,Raine’s Devil’s Arm, you will have totrade an Artifact of hers with Kotonfor it, which will thentrigger a cutscene. This willbreak the Seal in the Temple of Darkness, allowing you to explore it fully. Before moving any further, westrongly urge you to strengthen up your partyand equip them with thebest possible Armor, Weapons, Tech, and Itemspossible, as what awaits you is quite a challenge.

Step 10: Abyssion
Whenever you feel ready enough to dive into the depth of theTemple of Darkness,be sure tocreate a separate Save File near the beginning of the Temple, just in case you get yourself into a situation where you only have one Save File and have to backtrack all the way through the Temple, which may or may not be possible depending on how well prepared you were.
Arriving at the bottomof theTemple of Darknesswillreveal Abyssion’s true intentions, and you will have tofight him. This is thehardest encounter in Tales of Symphonia Remastered by a longshot, andwill likely take you many attemptsto beat. Hehas access to many Techsandhis own Mystic Artesand alsohas no weaknesses. You must defeat him by dodging his attacks and landing hits whenever a window presents itself.

This encounter is very longand isan endurance test with a heavy DPS check.Werecommend using Raineas your Healerwhile everyone else is pure DPS.That meansKratos/Zelos, Lloyd, Presea, and Rainewould be anexcellent team compositionto throw at him. However, whatever works best for you is ultimately your best shot.Nonetheless, when youfinally best Abyssos, yourDevil’s Arms will be active, and everything we covered at the very beginning of this Guide will apply!
