One-on-one sword duels are the sole focus of this game, and they are absolutely brutal. There is a heavy push towards realism here, with different swords and fighting styles all in play. There is a bit more gore than in some games, so if that isn’t your go-to then be wary. There’s a steep learning curve, but it isn’t enough to keep you from having a good time.

Take a band of flawed heroes on various runs into dark areas twisted by malicious gothic creatures. Some may not survive, but those who do will not come back as they once were. There’s a lot of luck in this game, but if you like beating the odds then this is the way to go.

Part hack-and-slash and part medieval sim,Mount And Blade 2: Bannerlordadds a bit more gameplay variation to your fantasy setting.
Experience historical combat from the Middle Ages, create empires, and destroy them as well. If you thought Dark and Darker was a little one-note, then you should get this game downloading now. It can be a lot to take in, but it’s definitely one you’ll keep coming back to.

The fantasy tropes found in Dark and Darker are definitely there, another place they can be found in spades is the world of Warhammer.
