It’s hard to quantify the impact thatFortnitehas had on the video games industry. It’s one of the few modern games that have transcended gaming culture and has made it into general pop culture. Within the industry itself, it – along with PUBG – inspired a deluge of battle Royale games, many of which have not stood the test of time.It has also made stars out of many of the game’s biggest streamers. The likes of Ninja and Shroud became household names, as the game played a big part in the streamer phenomenon. It’s not like they’re leaving Fortnite behind or anything, as the entire thing will be based on the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. No other details have been provided about this game, except that its development title is Project V and it will launch sometime in 2024.“With the launch of Unreal Editor for Fortnite in March 2023, it sparked inspiration in all of us,” says thewebsiteof the project. “Immediately, we huddled together to brainstorm and all came to the same conclusion: let’s create our own Battle Royale with the power of UEFN.” “So we’re uniting our communities and pooling our resources to do just that,” continued the description. “And we want to do it right. We’ll be taking our time to develop this game as features for UEFN become more powerful and flexible. With custom weapons, a full scale map, fluid movement and unique mechanics in our sights, we have ambitious plans to build something really unique.”
Community feedback will apparently play a big role in this project. “While we can’t give away too many details about the game just yet, here’s what we can tell you: Project V will be a game that puts community feedback and features front and center. We believe that our players should have a say in shaping the game they play.”
SypherPKOni Studioswill be working on the project, and also has some positions open for UEFN developers and marketing executives for the project.
With thesuccess of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, you can expect other IPs to get onto the bandwagon as well. Fortnite, being one of the biggest games in recent history, would be remiss not to jump on the opportunity. And,Epic Games CCO Donald Mustard knows exactly how he’d do it.
“I know exactly how I would do the Fortnite whatever,” he said in a recent interview. “Exactly. I know exactly the story I’d want to, but it’s not the focus right now. I don’t have time.”
