Even if you’ve somehow never heard of Tommy Tallarico, you will be familiar with his work. In a career that spans three decades, Tallarico has composed soundtracks for games such as Prince of Persia, Earthworm Jim, and Sonic and the Black Knight. However, most recently, he’s best known for a bitter copyright battle withRoblox, which sawthe popular “oof” sound effect removed from the game last yearafter heclaimed ownership of it.

Without going into too much detail, it became apparent that some of Tallarico’s claims didn’t quite add up. This came to a head when YouTuber Hbomberguy uploaded an almost two-hour video on Tallarico, exploring and taking down many of his claims - including the idea that he created the “oof” in the first place. And now, someone is having some fun with the situation, astommytallarico.comhas been set to redirect to the video.

This was spotted at TheGamer this morning, noticing that tommytallarico.com now instantly takes you to the Hbomberguy video, ROBLOX_OOF.mp3. This is unlikely to be a welcome development for Tallarico, considering how thorough of a takedown this is.

Luckily for the composer, tallarico.com has been left intact. He’ll just have to hope no one looking for his website chucks his full name in there.

There are far too many points in the video for me to go over here, but the main point is his claim that he composed the “oof” sound effect later used in Roblox. This came about after someone found that it was also used in the 2000 game Messiah, a title that Tallarico’s team created sound and music for.

Across the almost two-hour runtime, Hbomberguy debunks many of his other claims too, such as the idea that he was the first American to work on the Sonic series (his first involvement was in 2009), and his exaggerated involvement with the original Metroid Prime. He even pretended to be on MTV’s Cribs, for some reason.
