The meat of the gameplay inMeet Your Makerrevolves around raiding outposts (levels) made by other players. Knowing what to do when you start your journey is the key to making out alive with the DNA sample. Raiding is punishing, but that makes the reward all the sweeter.

Each outpost is made by another crafty gamer, so there is almost zero chance you’d get to play the same level again. And as players make each level, there are bound to be some brutal challenges. Getting bested by a brilliantly placed trap is always thrilling, and solving each outpost is a puzzle.
10Survey - Observe The Level
That may seem like anti-fun but going slow at the start can help you understand where people are putting traps and enemies. Going slow isn’t boring if you make it out of an Outpost with minimal deaths. Some deaths are unavoidable as the traps are cleverly placed, so don’t fret if you get bested. Learn and try again.
you’re able to replay a level as many times as you like, but keep in mind that the more you die, the more resources the outpost owner gets.

9Go Fast - Skip The Traps
The traps take a few moments to trigger, so you can easily get past them if you move fast. When dealing with enemies, it’s better to move fast to avoid traps and get within range to take them down. Knowing when to go slow and when to rush is the key to making out alive in Meet Your Maker.
Speed also allows you to dodge incoming projectiles both from the traps and enemies. Use the double jump and the grappling hook to move faster around levels. It won’t be as safe as going slow, but it’s a lot more fun.

8Be Well Equipped - Hardware Is Key
Talk to the Hardware vendor in Sanctuary before you head out to raid. You can get valuable consumables from them that’ll come in handy in a pinch.
We especially recommend getting the deployable shield that keeps you from getting harmed for a few seconds. That’s invaluable if you find yourself inside a “kill box” with multiple traps springing at once. Another great item is the grenade; it takes down multiple traps/enemies if they are nearby.

7Grappling Hook - Get Hooked
The grappling hook is not only a great way to traverse the levels but also an equally potent tool for avoiding traps. It allows you to fly to a set point while raiding outposts. The hook is amazing at letting you bypass traps in speed, especially the corrosive cubes (glows like lava). You can also use it to close the distance between you and the enemies.

Sometimes in the heat of the raid, you may forget about the grappling hook — keep it in mind when a trap room seems tricky.
6Indicators - Know The Signs
The game gives you visual and audio cues when a trap is getting ready to deploy. The screen will flash red just before a trap is activated, giving you time to back away. There are audio signals for each trap as well, knowing those will allow you to effectively dodge or avoid traps entirely.
Enemies that shoot projectiles have a wind-up animation and audio chimes that let you know when they are going to attack. Some traps like the Bomb Ejector drop multiple explosives down, so it’s best to run away from it rather than going back one or two steps.

5Round Two - Be Vigilant
Meet Your Maker raids have two rounds. One is before you pick the GenMat and one comes after. Many traps and enemies only show up after you pick up your prize, so be prepared.
Many players love to have traps activated right after you pick up the GenMat, so verify you are kitted with some defensive abilities. You may have cleared the whole level when traveling to the GenMat, but once you pick it up, anything can happen. Be vigilant when traversing out of the outpost.

4Harvester Buddy - The Guide
The small harvester may seem like an enemy, but it’s your friend. Each outpost in Meet Your Maker will have a harvester traveling to the GenMat directly. Follow the little buddy if you are ever lost and need to find your way back to the GenMat.
No outpost maker can block Harvester’s path as the game simply won’t allow it. So it’s a surefire way of finding the genetic material you are after. The same method works when trying to find your way out of the outpost as well.

3Destroy Traps - They Won’t Hurt
The best way to ensure the traps won’t be able to take you down is to destroy them. Destroyed traps are not only harmless but cannot activate a second time. They also drop valuable resources that you can collect. It’s a win-win situation.

We recommend taking down any traps that are within reach. Use your ranged weapon for far-off traps and your melee weapon for up-close damage. Remember, in the second wave after you collect GenMat, more traps will spawn, and they’ll have more resources for you to collect.
2Conserve Ammo - Be Smart
You have limited ammo in Meet Your Maker. For example, the base weapon only has two projectiles when you start the game. Thankfully, you may collect ammo from destroyed traps and slain enemies.
However, if a trap is far away and inaccessible, you won’t be able to get close to it and recollect ammo. So verify you have a clear path before shooting. Sometimes it’s best to conserve ammo and not take down a trap. Many clever players have designed traps to trigger when you go to collect ammo, so make sure you survey your surroundings before making a move.

1Use Melee - Swords Are Cool
The starter ranged weapon isn’t great. It has severe projectile drop when shot and is generally not ideal for run and gun or ranged combat.
Your trusty sword is equally devastating and faster to use. It also has the advantage of taking down enemies and traps without using precious ammo. So when possible, use your melee weapon to deal some free and fast damage to the traps and enemies.
