Continuing on from our April walkthrough, May is the first month when the game stops holding your hand and gives you more freedom than before. We’ll be busy this month, so follow along with our journey.
By nature of completing the game, this series of guides will contain spoilers for plot points in Persona 3 Portable. We do promise discretion where possible, though!

A fewthings to keep in mindas we segue into May in our walkthrough:
With this said, let’s dive into the month ofMayin P3P if you’re playing as thefemale protagonist.

Persona 3 Portable Female Protagonist - May Walkthrough
Anyone who’s played aPersonagame before knows thatMay is when the game stops holding your handas hard as it did in April and begins to let you explore a bit more on your own.
This month, you’ll be unlocking plenty of newsocial linksas well as working on the ones we’ve started, heading back intoTartarusone more time to finish up Thebel for good, and, not least of all, have the first of yourFull Moon Operations- this game’s iteration ofboss battles.

And with much to do before the fight, let’s get started!
From this point on, Saori will be standingoutside whatever room that hosts the committee you chosewhen you want to see her again.

She’s in1F Near Faculty Officeif you’ve gone for the School Health Committee, but uses the entrance to the Library in2F Hallwayfor the Library Committee.
5/9: Saturday
All Day
Today is the day of your very firstFull Moon Operation, which are P3P’s boss fights. Since Tartarus isn’t a traditional dungeon, these super-strong shadows serve as your test between sections of Tartarus instead.
They take up theentire dayand are important fights! For all the info you’ll need on the5/9 Full Moon Operation against Arcana Priestess, this guideis dedicated to the entirety of the battle.

Evening
If you attempt to study while Sick or Tired, time will pass, but you will not gain Academicsfrom it - not just onthisnight, buteverynight.
Don’t study while Sick or Tired without using Yawn-B-Gone first to clear your condition.

5/15: Friday
We leveled up here, but with the number of points earned not related to each music note on screen as you earn points, it’s possible it may take you another charm-boosting action or two to also level up.
Stay awake in class.(+Academics)

After School
Although Maiko does establish anew social link, one for whichyou don’t have a matching Persona yet, don’t worry.
Youdon’t need a matching Persona for your first or final ranksof a social link, so we’ll worry about fusing one after our exams next week.

If you did not rank up your Academics here, don’t worry - you should still be okay for the exams, and will likely pop the ranking right afterward.

“How would you translate ‘pan’ in English?”
5/20
“How fast does the Earth rotate near the equator?”
Faster than sound
5/21
“What’s the name for water high in calcium and magnesium?”
Hard water
5/22
“Where is the Kitora Tomb located?”
As a principal, be sure you’re registering your Personas regularly to keep your stock up-to-date.
Akihiko now becomes available as a social link, too, but you’ll needRank 4 Charmto begin hanging out with him, under the intense gaze of all the other girls at school who like him. For now, he’ll have to wait.
If you’re not able to join Student Council yet,you may have skipped talking to Ms. Toriumi when Mitsuru invited you to join, since we spoke to her about Student Council but went directly to Volleyball Practice from there to keep on schedule with Rio’s social link.
Go to1F Near Faculty Officeand enter theFaculty Officeitself to speak toMs. Toriumiabout it now, then return to the Student Council room for your first meeting as scheduled.
If you don’t level up here, don’t worry. You may have had fewer sick days than we did to drink Mr. Edogawa’s concoctions, or your points paid out differently than the music notes implied, since they’re not the number of points you earn.
Like with our Academics stat a bit earlier, you should level up in a time slot or two after continuing to work on your Courage if you didn’t today.
This scene is the first of a few triggers for your eventualSun social link, but you won’t actually begin spending time with Akinari for a while due to another trigger that doesn’t happen until, at the earliest, mid-August.
Phone call hangout with Junpei.(Magician: Time spent.)

A Note On Automatic Social Links
By now, you’re beginning to see other arcana pop up in your S. Links panel in the menu, namelyDeathandFool.
Deathranks up after your conversations withPharos, the boy who comes to visit during the Dark Hour. Meanwhile, theFoolarcana ranks upautomatically throughout the story with SEES between now and November.
You’ll notice thatDeathranks up somewhat unevenly;Pharos skips over rankstwo, four, seven, and nine.
Both of these social links are automatic with story progression, and you cannot miss them, nor can you influence them.
