Whether you’re hunting in the scorching desert heat or the frigid cold of the Frost Islands, Monster Hunter Rise has givena new standard for exciting and fun gameplay. From ghastly Aksonom to the grotesque Khezu, there are plenty of exciting monsters you and your palamute friends can hunt or capture.

11Aknosom

The Aknosom are very territorial creatures likely to attack any unfortunate passerby who strays onto their turf. They make good sport for the beginner hunters of Kamura.

You’ll want to beware of and prepare for the fire attacks the Aknosom are known for. Be ready to dodge as well since it uses a rush move and aerial attacks to take down hunters and other large monsters alike. Unfortunately, the Aknosom doesn’t fly when mounted, so it operates as a typical ground monster while being ridden.

10Basarios

The thick-skinned Basarios can be a big challenge for new hunters who are unprepared. Stock up on antidotes and energy drinks to shake off the poison and sleep effects that this monster can inflict. It has extremely slow but powerful attacks, so it’s best to pack a weapon with some mobility like the insect glaive.

It’s a very fun fight since it’s all about whittling down its defenses and then unleashing everything you’ve got. A weapon with green durability is necessary to penetrate its defense since the thick skin of the beast renders all other sharpness levels useless.

9Blood Orange Bishaten

With a desire to throw explosive fruit and the tendency to breathe fire when angry, the Blood Orange Bishaten are exceptionally dangerous foes that even the most seasoned hunter can struggle to bring down. Unlike their standard cream and blue-colored counterparts, the orange sub-variant has an affinity for using its lethal fire breath to combat hunters. They’re able to balance themselves on their tails and throw their signature explosive fruits, dealing heavy damage.

These Bishaten are also able to do a spin attack that deals enormous damage to those it hits and stuns those who are nearby. Their large move pool makes fighting them extremely chaotic in a fight and a challenge to manage even for a full team of hunters, but it only adds to the fun.

8Lunagaron

Versatile and agile, a dangerous combo for even an experienced hunter. This wolf-like creature wasreleased in the Sunbreak DLCand is able to cover its body in ice to prevent damage when it falls under heavy assault. It also has a breath attack that can freeze enemies. Aside from the ice attacks, the moveset is nothing to write home about.

Most of the fun comes from actually trying to keep up with the Lunagaron and panicking if you’re hit with ice. To take it down effectively, use weapons with the fire element since the Lunagaron is susceptible to the fireblight debuff.

7Pukei-Pukei

A bird wyvern that is harsher on the eyes than most, the Pukei-Pukei is all about poison. A lot of the fun in this fight can be found in getting revenge on it for poisoning you countless times. Being that the monsters react to the use of healing items in-game, this fight can be tricky with bad positioning.

Pack a lot of antidotes and bring a hard-hitting thunder weapon to take it down. This is a fight best finished quickly since antidotes are a limited necessity, and you’re bound to be poisoned more than once due to the quickness of the attacks.

It should be noted that being in the vicinity of an Anjanaths head is generally very dangerous, especially when enraged. That being said, water weapons will be your best friend and so will the evasive maneuvers of the wirebugs since the monster likes to charge a lot. Bear in mind that the Anjanath gets very reckless with low health, so the battle will need to be more cautionary than most.

The bubble-spewing monster is very susceptible to thunder attacks and shock traps.Water resistance is a must-have in this fightsince many of the attacks used by the Mizutsune inflict waterblight.

For those who don’t know, waterblight causes the afflicted hunter to have severely slowed stamina recovery, making the fight harder since the monster has a lot of attacks that require swift movement. It’s an exceptionally fun fight since the Mizutsune comes off as a bit of a joke at first since it spews bubbles but can quickly prove to be the opposite.
