Once you’ve got a year-round starfruit farm, and a basement full of casks, you’ll need something to blow all that money on, and the game does offer a few avenues to burn that money as fast as possible. For the obscenely rich, consider wasting your money here.

The farmer in Mayor Lewis' house in Stardew Valley the video game

Updated on July 31, 2025 by Gabrielle Castania:With the release of the 1.6 update back in March, we’re updating plenty of our Stardew Valley content to make sure we still stand by our rankings after all the changes. This list of the most expensive items in Stardew Valley is current as of Version 1.6.4.

10Divorce

Cost: 50,000g

Do you have massive regretsabout the romantic choicesyou’ve made? Did youmarry someoneonly to realize they’re not everything they’re cracked up to be, or you’ve realized you don’t liketheir spouse roomand feel it clashes with your home’s vibe?Get a divorce! You don’t even need to discuss it with your spouse - just speak to Mayor Lewis and pay him the fees.

When you divorce a spouse, your hearts with them will be reduced to zero the following morning after they’ve moved out, and this character will be pretty upset with you (understandably so).

The rarecrows lined up in Stardew Valley the video game

Your ex will understandably be mad at you for the rest of the game and be stuck at zero friendship. That is, unless you use the shrine in the witch’s hut to wipe their memory for another 30,000 gold. Then it’s as if nothing happened at all.

9Alien Rarecrow

Cost: 100,000g (Or Lots Of Time Spent Gambling)

Stardew Valley loves its collectiblesand catalogues, and because of this, there areeight unique “Rarecrows"you’re able to collect around the Valley. They function as normal scarecrows on your farm, but collecting all eight is the key to a secret Rarecrow event.

One of the toughest Rarecrows to obtain is the Alien Rarecrow, which can only beobtained from the Casinoover in the Calico Desert. The Rarecrow itself costs 10,000 Casino Tokens, with these Tokens being available for purchase for 10g each. Because of this, the Alien Rarecrow will run you a flat 100,000g to buy outright.

You could alternatively play the casino games, but it is as advertised — a casino, with no guarantee you’ll win. If you’veamassed a fortune already, just buy the darn scarecrow and save the time.

8Cellar Upgrade

Cost: 100,000g

The final house upgradecan prety easily become your biggest money-maker, and you’ll barely even have to lift a finger. For 100,000g, you’re able to add a cellar to your farmhouse. The cellar is only good for housing casksthat age Wine andother artisan goods, but to make the big bucks, it’s Wine you’ll want to focus on.

With the layout above, you can fit 125Casksin your cellar, and all you have to do to ageWineis place it in a cask and leave. It takes two entire seasons to age Wine to Iridium quality, but its sale price almost doubles from the original value by doing so.

7Town Shortcuts

Cost: 300,000g (Each)

This upgrade can’t be purchased until you’vefinished the Community Center, purchasedthe first community upgradefrom Robin, andfully upgraded your house. After these goals are achieved, it’ll cost 300,000g each, but you’ll be able to open several shortcuts around the map in Pelican Town.

You canunlock shortcutsfrom:

These can save you a lot of time, so choose your most important shortcut and start investing in improving your route through town.

6Earth And Water Obelisks

Cost: 500,000g (Each)

The first of the obelisks cost 500,000g each, for a total of 1,000,000g to cover the first half of the Obelisks available fromthe Wizard’s special catalogat his home. These prices are pretty steep, and honestly, these first two upgradesaren’treallyworth it, as they serve to shave seconds off your daily commute.

The Earth Obelisk teleports your farmer over to the Mountains beside the Lake, while the Water Obelisk transports you to the very northern edge of the Beach by the path up into Pelican Town.

You can’t bring your horse with you through an Obelisk, so we hope you’ve gotthe Horse Fluteif you’re intending to use your equine friend once you arrive at your destination - you still have to walk back home after you warp, after all.

5Pam’s House

Cost: 500,000g

The very first of the Community Upgrades may not be of the most direct use to you, but man, did we feel good completing it anyway? After finishing the Community Center and all the upgrades to your home, you’ll have the option to drop 500,000g to pay forPam(andPenny, if she’s still living at home) to upgrade from a trailer to a house.

During the cutscene revealing the home, Pam asks who paid for it, and you’ve got the choice to either come forward as the benefactor or stay quiet and let your good deed remain anonymous. The outcome is the same either way, but we preferred staying quiet -Pam and Penny deserve a win, we think.

4The Statue Of Endless Fortune

Cost: 1,000,000g

The Statue of Endless Fortune is just a flex for the sake of flexing, especially noteworthy in multiplayer games when you can make your friends jealous. The Statue of Endless Fortune can be purchased from the Casino in the Calico Desert for a staggering 1,000,000g - and no, you cannot use Casino tokens to cut the price.

Butthe Statue of Endless Fortunecan help in some pretty cool ways. If it’s someone’s birthday, interacting with the Statue provides you witha gift that villager loves. If it’s not a special occasion, you’ll instead receive eitherone Iridium Bar, oneGold Bar,one Diamond, or oneOmni Geodefrom the Statue each day.

3Desert And Island Obelisks

Cost 1,000,000 Gold (Each)

You may already have the other two Obelisks, but in our opinion, the Desert and Island Obelisks are the two that are really worth their weight in gold. While the others bring you around Pelican Town, the Desert Obelisk brings you to the Calico Desert just south ofthe Desert Trader, while the Island Obelisk brings you to Ginger Island just north ofthe Island Resort.

By the time you’re able to swing these upgrades, you’ll havebeen to both places several timesalready, probably enough times to be getting sick of the journey there and back. It takes a while to save for these two Obelisks, but we believe they’re worth the upgrade price to save yourself so much time traveling to another region.

2Return Scepter

Cost: 2,000,000g

Maybe one of the best items in the entirety of Stardew Valley, theReturn Scepterdoes cost a pretty penny, but the amount of time it saves is tremendous. That’s because the Return Scepter will automatically teleport you to right outside your farmhouse’s front door, no matter where in the world you are - in Pelican Town or out in the Desert or on Ginger Island.

Withyour farmer passing out at 2AMno matter what they’re doing, it can be frustrating to cut your adventures short to sprint home, praying you make it to your bed in time. But with the Return Scepter, you can safely stay busy until 1:40 or 1:50 AM before quickly teleporting back home and hopping into bed at the last possible second.

1Gold Clock

Cost: 10,000,000g

The Gold Clockis the single most expensive item in Stardew Valley, and it’s the definition of a status symbol. For the ludicrous price of 10,000,000g, you can erect this monument on your farm to prevent any debris or weeds from growing on it ever again, as well as preventing paths and fences from degrading as they tend to over time.

If you have enough money to afford this item, you’ve pretty muchbeaten Stardew Valley. The Gold Clock is mostly functionless since removing weeds once a season isn’t that hard, and because of that, it’s likely one of the last things you’ll ever want to buy. You bought this because you had nothing else to buy - we don’t judge, since we did the exact same thing.
