Honor is a hugely important aspect of Skellige’s culture. Skelligers bring it up constantly inThe Witcher 3,using it like a second currency that is immune to inflation and able to stand the test of time. As a continental, Geralt may not see matters through the same lens as the locals, giving you some leeway in dealing with their customs.

Geralt may end up imprisoned after a bar fight turns bloody. While there are a few ways to get out, asking a shady prisoner for help will lead to a series of events culminating in the quest, An Unpaid Debt.

Picking Up The Debt

You will need to fulfill a series of conditions to get this quest. Geralt will have tobe imprisonedafter completingContract: The Phantom Of Eldberg.This would start the quest,Stranger in a Strange Land,where you will need tobe tried by Madman Lugosearly. While there are several ways to do so, you will need toask Simun Bramblingto help you.

This quest will not start if youcompletedKing’s Gambitbefore turning in the contract.

Simun will tell Geralt that his assistance has put the witcher in a debt of honor and that he willcome to collect iteventually.

You will need to finishCave of Dreams,helping Lugos' son pass a Skelliger trial. Several days after completing the quest,Simun will appear at Kaer Trolde Harbor,by the tavern. He will attempt to claim the debt from Geralt.

You will have toagree to honor the debtto start the quest. Otherwise, it will fail.

Choosing Between Evils In A Debt Unpaid

Simun will have you meet him at a hut on Ard Skellig. As soon as Geralt arrives, he orders the witcher to slay Volund. Volund tells Geralt that his brother had been murdered by Simun and that it took an immense effort to see the man brought to justice.

Geralt will honor his debt andfight Volund and a shield-bearer.

Help Volund

Geralt willrefuse to kill an innocent manandfight Simunalongside Voulnd.

Depending on the outcome, Geralt will have killed an innocent man or dishonored himself. Either way, the quest will end.
