The best mobility class for you will vary depending on whether you want to travel faster and move easily around the environment, have better combat mobility without losing DPS or HPS, or avoid snares that would slow you down—looking for all of those things? This list will break down which classes do it best.

8Hunter

This damage-heavy class prioritizes both ranged damage (Marksmanship and Beast Mastery specs) and melee damage (Survival spec). It’s a great class to pick for all forms of content, and you not only deal good damage but also maintain smooth mobility, as most of your attacks, traps, and pet commands can be used while you’re on the move.

If you’ve played against a hunter, you’ve probably noticed they’re great at getting out of tough situations. Aspect of the Cheetah is an effective escape ability, increasing your movement speed by 90 percent, and Disengage is essential, allowing you to leap backward, clear movement-impairing effects, and giving you a short burst of speed. Survival Hunters can quickly close gaps using their Harpoon to pull themselves to an enemy, which is especially useful in arenasand battlegroundssince sticking to your target is vital for dealing high damage.

7Shaman

Shamans are a versatile class that can be melee (Enhancement), ranged (Elemental), or a healer (Restoration). With a fun toolkit of abilities like Ghost Wolf and utility spells like Water Walking, Shamans allow you and your allies to move faster across the map, making questing and leveling go a lot quicker (and you get to feel that class fantasy). Plus, you’ll never want to go back once you avoid that slow swimming speed.

When it comes to combat, Spirit Walk comes in handy against classes that utilize roots and snares since it removes movement-impairing effects and boosts your movement speed. You also get Gust of Wind, which instantly summons wind to hurl you forward and lets you reposition yourself easily. And Spiritwalker’s Grace allows you to cast spells while moving, an essential pick for Elemental Shamans who need to keep up damage output while moving.

6Rogue

Don’t underestimate the freedom of movement that comes with stealth classes. Rogues are made to slip in and out of the shadows, and with a versatile toolkit of movement abilities, they’re hard to catch and hard to shake. No matter your specialization, Rogues are a blast to play, andyou can look good while sneaking up on your foes.

In combat, Shadow Step makes you quick and deadly; you shift into the shadows, temporarily appearing behind your target and increasing your speed. Outlaw Rogues can also use Grappling Hook to pull themselves to the target, an offensive ability that works fantastically in PvP settings. If you need to get away in a pinch, your defensive mobility comes with Vanish, which lets you slip into the shadows, breaking any movement-impairing effects in the process. And while you’re in stealth, be sure to use Sprint if you need to up your movement speed.

5Evoker

Your first time playing a Devastation or Preservation Evoker will probably feel a lot like a Demon Hunter, since both classes can move around on the battlefield with ease using their Double Jump and Glide. But as familiar as their playstyle might feel initially, you’ll quickly find that Evokers are heavily designed around individual and group movement, much more than other classes.

Blessing of the Bronze is an excellent party buff that reduces the cooldown of a major movement ability for all party and raid members for 60 minutes. You can also choose talents like Time Spiral, which lets you and allies cast a movement ability even if it’s on cooldown, or Zephyr, which increases the movement speed of your party. There’s a long list of other movement abilities as well, including Rescue, Verdant Embrace, and Hover. With all those options, Evokers are arguably the most mobile caster class in WoW, rarely dropping HPS or DPS when they’re moving around the battlefield.

4Warrior

Have you ever tried to kite a Warrior in an arena match? It’s like trying to evade a shark smelling blood in the water. Fury and Arms Warriors can maintain high uptime of melee damage in all forms of content, thanks in part to their versatile mobility toolkit. It’s a great, beginner-friendly class to main if you want to swap targets easily, sustain pressure on foes, and set the tempo of combat.

You’ll often open on targets using Charge, which sends you charging toward an enemy and rooting them in place. If your target somehow manages to avoid you, Heroic Leap gives you another way to close the gap. Warriors are also useful in defensive situations with Intervene, an ability that lets them instantly run to an ally, intercepting all melee and ranged attacks against them.

3Demon Hunter

Whether you’re tanking as a Vengeance Demon Hunter or focusing on DPS as a Havoc Demon Hunter, you’ll find that both specializations have high mobility, excellent AoE damage, and are purely fun to play. Once you get used to double jumping and gliding off cliffs, you’ll definitely miss all that mobility when you play an alt-character.

Demon Hunters guarantee consistent damage output without sacrificing your movement. Fel Rush sends you rushing forward, leaving chaos damage in your path, and can be used regularly with its short ten-second recharge time. This is especially useful for engaging mobs while questing or opening on an enemy player. On the defensive end, Vengeful Retreat will remove any snares, an effective escape maneuver that damages enemies you leave behind.

2Monk

Monks define the phrase, “Now you see me, now you don’t.” Mistweavers, Brewmasters, and Windwalkers all have excellent melee uptime and fun mobility toolkits that let them rush into battle and escape it just as quickly. It’s highly satisfying to Transcendence away from an enemy’s burst of damage, particularly in PvP situations. If you’re a Windwalker, you’ll have fun using Flying Serpent Kick to soar through the air to your target.

Roll will be your most used movement ability, and you’ll have to select between Celerity (increasing the number of roll charges) or Chi Torpedo if you want to dash away further and gain a boost of movement speed. Selecting Improved Roll grants you an additional charge of whichever talent you choose. You also have added utility to help your allies with Tiger’s Lust, increasing your or a friendly target’s movement speed while also removing roots and snares.

1Druid

Druids, much like Shamans, have an affinity for the elements and can shift forms by tapping into that raw, natural energy. Playing as a Druid, you can shift into Cat Form, Bear Form, and, if you choose the Balance specialization, the Moonkin Form. While there are four specs to choose from, you’ll find that they all excel at mobility and make frustrating opponents to play against in PvP.

If you’re looking for a class that makes world travel more enjoyable, you’ll appreciate that druids have instant castforms that replace mounts: Travel Form increases movement speed on land, water, and in the air while also protecting you from Polymorph effects, Aquatic Form increases your swim speed; and Flight Form allows you to fly outside of combat. One of the most functional movement perks that Druids have in combat is the removal of roots and snares every time you change forms, which makes it difficult for your foes to pin you down.
