7Impact Crater

This is the area deepest inside Tallon IV’s surface and hosts the final boss of the game. The small yet unforgettable region of Impact Crater is where all your hard work and dedication will pay off. Here, you will face Fission Metroids as you make your way to the final destination. Metroid Prime, the gigantic mutated Metroid who lives in the darkest areas of Tallon IV makes a memorable final enemy to the first installment of the series.

Even though it’s not as vast as other regions of the world, Impact Crater holds a significant and prominent space in this journey. As they say, when one chapter ends, another begins.

Metroid Prime Samus In Frigate Orpheon

6Frigate Orpheon

The very first region explored in the Metroid Prime Series, Frigate Orpheon introduces you to the creepy and spooky ambiance of the Metroid galaxy. Here you encounter your first foes, learn to defeat them, and get a general sense of the gameplay. As Samus navigates the area, she finally finds the Parasite Queen, who she must defeat.

As Samus defeats her, she is forced to escape as a destruction operation is activated upon her death, although not without seeing Meta Ridley. Frigate Orpheon is where you get to see two iconic bosses and is the beginning of this epic story, making this region not only a significant one but an archetypal stage nonetheless.

Metroid Prime Magmoor Caverns

Perhaps the most frightening region of them all, Magmoor Caverns is a subterranean magma-filled landscape. The graphics really capture your eye and is quite aesthetically pleasing. These dark caves are filled withenemies and obstacles, such as Magmoor’s and Triclops', which are not only cool-looking but really force you to focus and pay attention.

This fiery region that rages with intense heat is simply a treat to play. The dangerous creatures with the ominous background music really immerse you into this dark realm.

4Phazon Mines

The Phazon Mines’ eerie music and comfortless landscape can make this area a bit disturbing for you. Not to mention, the powerful Space Pirates that are scrambled along the area make quite a fuss, so get ready! Although, Samus, by this point, would have been pumped up and ready enough that you’re able to take on this challenge and feel gratified for doing so.

The mines are quite similar to Impact Crater, except it is more expansive, so there’s a bit more to uncover. It is definitely a trickier and tougher map than other areas, so do be prepared.

Metroid Prime Phazon Mines

3Tallon Overworld

After chasing Meta Ridley during the Frigate Orpheon incident, Samus ends up on the surface region of the surreal planet of Tallon IV, which is called Tallon Overworld. A stormy and swampy area that hosts a variety of creatures you need to look out for. This region serves as a base and general access point to most of the other regions on the planet.

No boss battle is encountered in Tallon Overworld, although the forest-themed area has interesting views and is a place toscavenge about to find helpful items.

2Chozo Ruins

The largest region in the game, the once elegant Chozo Ruins is a mysterious land where you’re able to observe ancient Chozo technology, as well as artifacts. Some of the sightings you may come across include statues and carvings, which give you a great glimpse into the once-populated Chozo Region.

In this area, you get to experience a beautiful intermingling between an intriguing landscape, Chozo lore, and fun puzzles to progress to subsequent areas. The ice-cold Phendrana Drifts is an area of the game that inspires much wonder. The snowy region is beautiful and makes you curious enough to explore the area. The place features some hostile creatures, like Ice Shriekbats, Ice Burrowers, and Sheegoth- which straight-up freeze you if you’re not careful, so stay alert!

Oftentimes, snow-themed maps in video games do not always shine or are as memorable as other landscapes featured. However, Metroid Prime’s Phendrana Drifts is captivating in its simple yet enchanting presentation and unforgettable ambiance. Remaining simply unmatched by other icy arenas and a prominent highlight of the Metroid series.
