Biting at the heels of Dynasty,Flesh And Blood’sOutsiders brought a whole set of heroes new and old to the scene, all meant to pair with the powerful equipment, actions, and reactions that the expansion has introduced.

Outsiders specifically sells itself on being the first to offer more than one hero per class, giving you many options in how you choose to build decks with its cards– with that and the newly added Hybrid cards, there’s sure to be more than one hero that’ll suit your fancy. Even if you don’t end up trying every hero, you’re likely see them in competitions thanks to their powerful synergies.
10Uzuri, Switchblade
Uzuri, Switchblade might be one of the strongest cards to come out of the Outsiders expansion thanks to her intimidating attack reaction– once per turn, Uzuri can replace an attacking stealth card on the combat chain with a card of your choice.
Why is this effect so powerful? Because it can be used to veil a much stronger card, allowing it to take effect far past the time that your opponent might use additional defense reactions. If your opponent overuses reactions to block an anticipated attack, you can punish them by not using your effect and then take advantage of their overcommitment.

9Arakni, Solitary Confinement
Unlike the contract effect he had in Dynasty, the new effect this young hero boasts takes advantage of the stealth mechanic that Outsiders introduces. This gives Arakni a whole new way to build decks for the Blitz format.
Though you can still use contract cardslike Dynasty’s stellar Leave no Witnesses, you’ll get the most value out of cards with the stealth effect, since stealth cards allow Arakni to go again the first time you play one in a turn. This makes the card distinct from Uzuri, as it focuses more on extending chains than tricking opponents.

8Riptide, Lurker Of The Deep
Riptide splashes onto the scene with his more calculated, range-based approach. His two effects allow him to work with both arrows and traps, making him an unpredictable hero to face if you build his sideboard right.

His first effect, which allows him to arsenal a card after playing one from his hand, gives him the freedom to use more arrows in a combat chain– and since cards put into the arsenal by Riptide go in face down, he can go for a rain of sneaky plays that other Rangers couldn’t dream of. Even further, Riptide’s traps all do extra damage regardless of their effect, making any angle you fight him a headache.
7Riptide
This young version of the legendary Ranger works about the same as he does in Constructed, but since you work with a smaller deck in Blitz, you must be far more discerning when building him. While trap cards are really powerful tools for disabling an opponent, you need to deal damage of some kind to make good on them; a delicate balance must be struck when deciding how many traps should be slotted into your deck.
This is where the arsenal ability that Riptide possesses becomes far more deadly, as the shorter timeframe and lower health in Blitz mean that his dense fields of arrows will be difficult to counter without losing value.

6Uzuri
Similar to her older counterpart, Uzuri is a fairly strong hero in Blitz– what makes her good in Classic Constructed is only amplified by shorter rounds, which allow her to force opponents into difficult situations where they can waste the few defense reactions they have or risk being destroyed by devastating on hit effects.
This version of the tactical assassin is also more useful with contracts, as in longer games, the amount of silver gained from subbing in contracts is not worth losing a card. With this Uzuri, you have the option of wearing gear that can brought back from the graveyard with silver, unlocking a slew of new effects to utilize.

5Benji, The Piercing Wind
Benji, the Piercing Wind is one of the returning characters in Outsiders, reprinted with the same effect as it originally had. This effect can be extremely useful, ignoring defense for each and every attack card possessing two or less damage.
The big issue is that it also increases the damage of the second attack action you play, meaning your options fall down to cards that only have one attack, and your next move is decided by luck. If you don’t stake your entire gameplan on ignoring defense, though, Benji can still challenge the best of them.

4Katsu
Another one of the younger heroes to get an Outsiders reprint, Katsu is the prototypical Ninja hero, focusing on peppering blows that slowly build up in severity over time. His effect allows him to discard a card with zero cost and pull a combo card from the deck to use that turn.

Thanks to this effect, Katsu can always get some value out of the combat chain and doesn’t need to worry about luck when setting one up. With the many Ninja cards that were introduced in both Dynasty and Outsiders, he can focus on more than just combos, flourishing regardless of deck type.
3Azalea
Azalea has been waiting for her time to outshine Lexi for a while, and now does with the collection of aim counter arrows that Outsiders has added. No longer tied to the Sandscour Greatbow, Azalea can use her exclusive Crow’s Nest quiver to place aim counters on arrows in exchange for a resource point.
Though aim counters are particularly fantastic for Azalea, what really makes her powerful is her effect– by putting her current arsenal card at the bottom of the deck, she can replace it from the top of the deck with the added dominate effect. This way, she can force her on-hit arrow effects through and get value in ways other Rangers struggle with.

2Azalea, Ace In The Hole
As an older hero, Azalea, Ace In The Holestill does well in Classic Constructed. With all the things that make her younger counterpart pop in Blitz, she gains the advantage of being able to stretch out games with the various effects she can force to hit.
Though the longer format can work in her favor, she needs to be particularly careful about how she builds her sideboard, as effects can vary in power depending on the opponent she inflicts with them. Though technically complex to build, Azalea is a character that can be disastrous in the arena.

1Katsu, The Wanderer
An older, wiser Katsu can work the board as well as he did in his youth, offering the same powerful effect but for the hour-long Constructed format. One of the best heroes to build a deck with to date, the larger pool of cards gives him more to work with to force blocks and build up a terrifying advantage.
Katsu can also play as a hybrid deck, since his effect doesn’t require him to have combo cards in hand– if you wanted to leverage a few Crouching Tigers in your assaults, you’re able to easily switch gears and use your combo effects to stifle counters.
