Stardew Valleytasks you with reviving your grandfather’s farm by growing crops, exploring caves, and building relationships with your new neighbors in the valley. One of the best aspects of the game is the way that the farming gameplay supports and expands every other part of the experience, giving you money to spend andunlocking helpful features to keep your new life fresh.
Typically, you can only grow certain crops in each season, limiting how you farm depending on the time of year — once you unlock the greenhouse, though, you gain the ability to grow any crop you want regardless of the season, and can use this to constantly maximize your profits.

Updated May 29, 2025 by Jacqueline Zalace:Are you still interested in the best crops to grow in the greenhouse in Stardew Valley? We’ve updated this list with a few more of the best options for crops to grow. Now, you may fully fill your greenhouse as efficiently as possible.
17Hops
Hopsare usually Summer crops that, once they reach maturity, can be harvested every day. This is a trellis crop, which means that it shouldn’t be your main or only crop, but having at least some Hops in your greenhouse means that you will have a daily crop to harvest.
But better than the hops themselves is what they can be turned into:Pale Ale. Althoughpale ale isn’t the most profitable of the artisan goods, it only takes one to two days to process whereas wine takes six to seven days. So, although in the long run you may make less profit, you will be selling items far more often.

Trellis crops cannot be walked through like other crops can be. So when you are placing them, you have to be mindful of their location and that it will still allow you to walk around your greenhouse freely.
16Cranberries
Cranberriesare a crop that regrows in five days' time and produces a guaranteed two cranberries from each harvest. Additionally, there’s a chance that you’ll get extra cranberries whenever you harvest a cranberry plant.
Each cranberry is worth 75 gold at the least, but the sheer amount of cranberries that it’s possible to get from a single harvest balances this out enough to make it one of the best crops in the game — plus, getting your hands on cranberry seeds is a lot easier than finding some of the few crops that can surpass the cranberry in money-making power.

15Red Cabbage
Red Cabbageis one of the few crops on this list that doesn’t continue to produce after being harvested — it’s typically more cost-effective to have a permanent plant that makes continuous money rather than one that you have to keep buying and replanting.
But since red cabbage makes a high profit, has applications in a few great recipes, and can only be harvested three times when in season, the greenhouse is a great place to get the maximum value from this crop all year long. The energy buff from theRed Platedish alone is enough to make red cabbage worth farming.

14Mixed Seeds
Mixed Seedsprobably seem like an odd selection, given that they aren’t nearly as consistent for making money as planting crops that suit your specific playstyle — but the unpredictability is the thing that makes these random seeds a good fit for the greenhouse.
If you plant mixed seeds outside during any season, they will produce a plant from a pre-decided list of crops available for that season; planting mixed seeds in a greenhouse, however, allows crops from any season’s list to grow, meaning it’s possible to get a certain crop even if its seeds aren’t for sale during that time of year.

13Fairy Rose
What, a flower, in this crop list? It’s more likely than you think all because of the craftable itemFairy Dust. However, that’s not the only reason you may want to consider growing this Fall crop. TheFairy Roseis the most profitable flower in the game. They take 12 days to grow, and they actually sell higher than a lot of crops.
But fairy dust is one of the best craftable recipes in Stardew Valley. Using this on any machine that is currently processing something will cause the machine to finish instantly. This includes using it on casks, which will make any alcoholic beverage or cheese jump by one quality stage. If you want to use a lot of fairy dust, you’ll want to stock up on fairy roses.

12Blueberries
TheBlueberryplant is another crop that benefits hugely from how much it gives you per harvest — you’re looking at a minimum of three blueberries every four days, letting you sell a high volume of product even if the pay is on the lower end.
By giving upwards of three berries for each harvest, there’s also a better chance that you’ll get at least one high-quality berry. Further, each blueberry can be turned into an artisan product to either make more money or be used as a gift that nearly every NPC will like. If you want a high density of fruits for use all year, then moving blueberries into the greenhouse should be your next step.

11Rhubarb
Rhubarbis often underrated since it’s a crop you can’t easily come by in your first year. But when you see it for sale, you should consider buying it in bulk and filling your greenhouse with it. It takes rhubarb 13 days to reach maturity, but then can be plucked and sold.
However, it’s much more profitable to turn the rhubarb you harvest into jelly or wine. If you have the artisan profession, the amount of money you may make will increase even more. So, if you’re looking for a crop that is fully removed instead of a reproducing plant, this could be the crop for you.

Rhubarb isn’t sold byPierrebut is instead purchased fromSandyin her Desert shop. This does mean you can’t purchase any until you repair the bus through either the Community Center or Joja Mart.
10Corn
Cornisn’t as profitable as berries, but is still a useful crop to have around for cooking purposes. Corn can be used to produce oil, which is a key item in many recipes. Some of the recipes that require oil actually give stat buffs and effects that can make exploring the areas outside your farm much easier.
The greenhouse will allow these buffs to be useable outside the summer and fall, giving you greater control over how you spend any given day in a year. A stockpile of oil can makeitems that are fantastic for diving into the mines, since dishes like Fried Mushroom can increase your damage for the cheap cost of aCommon Mushroom,Morel, andOil.

9Fruit Trees
Fruit trees almost seem completely designed around being placed in the greenhouse, since, if they’re placed anywhere else, they won’t produce fruit year-round. A fruit tree will produce one fruit per day for the entire year if you plant it in the greenhouse, making them one of the most consistent and valuable ways to make money in the game.
Even better, one fruit per day means that you’ll never be short of resources to make fruit-based artisan items like wine and jelly, which sell for even more and can be great gifts for nearly every character in the game.

8Cactus Fruit
TheCactus Fruitisn’t just a crop that gets more value from the greenhouse — if you want to even entertain the thought of growing any outside of the Calico Desert, the greenhouse is your only option. Cactus fruit is another crop that can be harvested continuously and has one of the quickest regrow times at three days per harvest.
While cactus fruit isn’t necessarily the most valuable crop you can use your greenhouse space for, there are a few characters who love it as a gift and several quests that will request you retrieve some for friendship points and gold.
