High elves inSkyrim, also called Altmer,are a popular race choice in character creation; they’re tall, attractive, pointy-eared - you could make your own Legolas! When you actually dive into the gameplay, you’ll want to know what to focus on, though. Here are some of the best high elven builds out there and what you should be doing to get them.
High Elf Character Creation
Every race starts with different skill bonuses, special abilities, and spells.High elves' tend to benefit your magical abilities.
Highborn
Once every day, you may regenerate magicka faster for 60 seconds.
Your maximum magicka increases by 50.
Magical Archer
If you want tolean into the stereotype that elves are archers,put the high elves' natural inclination for magic to good use! Conjuration allows you to always have a bow at your side, and gives it special buffs, in addition to allowing you to have a conjured companion to distract your opponents.
Gear
The weapons you’ll be using in this build arespells and your bow, primarily.The Bound Bow spell means you’ll always have a bow to work with, but once you reach high levels the real bows you can craft or loot will be better (especially if they are enchanted). Your armor should ideally keep you light on your feet while providingdamage buffs to your bow or boosts to your magicka.

Bound Bow (Conjuration)
Creates a magic bow for 120 seconds. Sheathe it to dispel.
Move more quietly for 180 seconds.
Invisibility (Illusion)
Caster is invisible for 30 seconds. Activating an object or attacking will break the spell.
Key Shouts
Aura Whisper
Your Voice is not a Shout, but a whisper, revealing the life forces of any and all.
Slow Time
Shout at time, and command it to obey, as the world around you stands still.
Dismay
And the weak shall fear the Thu’um, and flee in Terror.
Vampire Necromancer
It’s rather popular tocombine the abilities of a vampire with the power of necromancy to create this build!You create undead creatures to serve you and attack yourself with your superhuman abilities. It’s associated with theDawnguard DLC, which features a conflict between vampires and vampire hunters. The Dragonborn gets to choose a side and, if you want to run this build, you should side with the vampires.
Any equipment that enhances your Restoration, Conjuration, Alteration, or Destruction should be prioritized!The Ring of the Erudite is especially important;it can only be foundif you choose to become a Vampire Lord, and it provides 100 extra magicka and makes your magicka regenerate faster.Try not to wear armor (opt for mage robes instead)to get the best out of the Mage Armor perk from the Alteration skill tree!
You probably won’t need many physical weapons, since you’ll be relying on spells and your Vampire Lord abilities, but a good one-handed weapon couldn’t hurt. However,if you do use a physical weapon, we recommend using one from a Bound spell,since you can get extra perks from the Conjuration skill tree.

Vampire Lord
Mist Form
Night Power: Turn into an invulnerable mist, while health, magicka, and stamina regenerate.

Killing a person with a power attack bite restores all your health.
Night Cloak
In combat, you are surrounded by a cloud of bats that feed on enemies within melee range.
Fireball (Destruction)
A fireball which explodes on impact for 40 points of damage in a 15-foot radius. Targets on fire take extra damage.
Heal Undead (Restoration)
Heals the undead target 75 points, but not the living, atronachs or machines.
Greater Ward (Restoration)
Increases armor rating by 80 points, and negates up to 80 points of spell damage or effects.
Equilibrium (Alteration)
Convert health into magicka at a rate of 25 points per second. Caster can be killed by this effect.
Nearby dead can be seen through walls.
Dead Thrall (Conjuration)
Reanimate a dead body permanently to fight for you. Only works on people.
Bound Dagger (Conjuration)
Creates a magic dagger for 120 seconds. Sheathe it to dispel.
Battle Fury
Your Thu’um enchants your nearby allies' weapons, allowing them to attack faster.
Become Ethereal
The Thu’um reaches out to the Void, changing your form to one that cannot harm, or be harmed.
Coax both magical and mortal energies from your hapless opponent.
Kyne’s Peace
The Voice soothes wild beasts, who lose their desire to fight or flee.

Destruction Mage
A mage specializing in any form of magic would be a great high elf build,but we’ll focus here on the elemental kind: a Destruction mage. You shouldchoose from one of the three elementsit uses: fire, lightning, and ice. The perks you take and the spells you use will be prioritized that way.
Your armor should be givingboosts to your magicka and spell damage.In the early hours of the game, that probably means mage robes instead of armor, but you can enchant and collect special armor to give you boosts and make you a little safer as you get further in the game.
You should be dual-wielding destruction spellsto get the most out of them, so you probably won’t need an actual weapon in your inventory! Not often, anyway. When you do, use whatever you prefer! Or, you could always go for a Bound weapon.

Destruction Dual Casting
Dual casting a Destruction spell overcharges the effects into an even more powerful version.
Ward Absorb
Wards that are cast absorb 25% of magicka that hits them.
Heals the caster 100 points.
Poison Rune (Restoration)
Targets that fail to resist take 3 points of poison damage per second for 30 seconds.
Blizzard/Fire Storm/Lightning Storm (Destruction)
A 100-point fiery explosion centered on the caster. The closer a target is, the more damage they take.
Creates a blizzard that surrounds the caster. Targets take 20 point of frost damage every second for 10 seconds, plus stamina damage.
Fires a continuous stream of lightning. Target takes 75 points of shock damage per second to Health, and half that to Magicka.
Firebolt/Ice Spike/Lightning Bolt (Destruction)
A bolt of fire that inflicts 25 points of fire damage. Targets on fire take extra damage.
A spike of ice that inflicts 25 points of ice damage to Health and Stamina.
A bolt of lightning that inflicts 25 points of shock damage to Health and half as much to Magicka.
Unrelenting Force
Your Voice is raw power, pushing aside anything - or anyone - who stands in your path.
Throw Voice
The Thu’um is heard, but its source unknown, fooling those into seeking it out.
Inhale air, exhale flame, and behold the Thu’um as inferno.
Your Thu’um freezes an opponent solid.
A Shout to the skies, a cry to the clouds, that awakens the destructive force of Skyrim’s lightning.
Illusion Assassin
High Elves get an especially large boost to their illusion skill,so why not take advantage? The Illusion Assassin playstyle focuses on manipulating and/or sneaking past your enemies. If you’ve ever joined the Thieves' Guild or the Dark Brotherhood you’re probably familiar with the basic pillars.
This build focuses onone-handed weapons and spells.Daggers are preferred for their speed, but certain perks can make it worth it to take another weapon, like a hand-axe. As for armor, you’ll want to prioritize lightarmor that boosts your magicka (or magical abilities otherwise), or gives you increased sneaking capabilities, like muffled steps.
Illusion
Illusion Dual Casting
Dual casting an Illusion spell overcharges the effects into an even more powerful version.
Quiet Casting
All spells cast from any school of magic are silent to others.
Master of the Mind
Illusion spells work on undead, daedra and automatons.
Critical Charge
you may do a one-handed power attack while sprinting that does double critical damage.
Paralyzing Strike
A backward power attack has a 25% chance to paralyze the target.
Calm/Pacify (Illusion)
Creatures and people up to level 9/20 won’t fight for 60 seconds.
Fury/Frenzy/Frenzy Rune/Mayhem (Illusion)
Creatures and people up to level 6/14/20/25 will attack anyone nearby for 30/60/30/60 seconds.
Bend Will
Your voice bends the very stones to your will. As it gains power, animals, people, and even dragons must do your bidding.
