By using the Amiibo rune on the Sheikah Slate inBreath of the Wild, you can scan a variety of Amiibo and receive rewards that range from food and other consumable items to otherwise unobtainable armor pieces and weapons.

Zelda Amiibo specifically give you a chance to receive rewards that reference previous games in the series. These Amiibo rewards are not only aesthetically pleasing and nostalgic, but also can also be used to help you throughoutyour journey in Hyrule. It’s worth getting your hands on these Amiibo just for the rare items they can drop. You’ll just need a bit of patience to get them, as you’re restricted to one scan per day per Amiibo.

10Gift From Grandma: Hero Of Winds Set And Sea-Breeze Boomerang

If you scan the Toon Link 30th Anniversary Amiibo or Toon Link Super Smash Bros. Amiibo, you can get the Hero of Winds set, an armor set representing Toon Link in The Wind Waker. There’s even a reference to Link’s grandmother, as the Tunic of the Wind’s item description says that it was “a gift from [the hero’s] grandmother.” Breath of the Wild’s art direction is completely different from Wind Waker’s, so it’s unexpected to see Toon Link’s outfit donned by Breath of the Wild Link.

Wind Waker Link’s Sea-Breeze Boomerang can also be obtained through these Amiibo, so you can fully complete the look or display it at Link’s house alongsideother special weapons.

9Stealth Up: Sheik’s Mask

As the name implies, Sheik’s Mask is acquired by using the Super Smash Bros. Sheik Amiibo. Its item description says that it is “a mask said to have been worn by a Sheikah who saved a time-traveling hero.” Of course, this is referring to Sheik inOcarina of Time, a fan-favorite character of the series.

Not only does the mask look cool, but it also increases Link’s stealth, allowing you to sneak up on enemies and attack them with advantage, especially when paired with the Stealth Chest Guard and Stealth Tights.

8Aim Skyward: Hero Of The Sky Set And Goddess Sword

The Hero of the Sky Set is obtained by using the Skyward Sword Link Amiibo and resembles the outfit Link receives inSkyward Swordafter the Wing Ceremony. Aside from being a neat callback, the Hero of the Sky set increases the damage and range of the Master Sword beam, similar to the other Link Amiibo outfits.

There’s also a chance for this Amiibo to drop the Goddess Sword, a blade crafted by the Goddess Hylia that eventually became the Master Sword throughout Skyward Sword’s story. Though Fi doesn’t appear, it’s a nice reference all the same.

7Passed Down Through Generations: Hero’s Shield

The Hero’s Shield appears in Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker, as well as Breath of the Wild with the Toon Zelda Amiibo. Breath of the Wild’s Hero’s Shield is clearly referencing Wind Waker’s iteration rather than Majora’s Mask’s, as it replicates the design perfectly.

The Hero’s Shield is a “family heirloom” according to the item description in Breath of the Wild, so it’s heartwarming that Link has a connection tothe other heroes. Pair this shield with the Hero of Winds set and the Sea-Breeze Boomerang, and you’re ready to hit Hyrule’s seas.

you may obtain the Divine Helms by using the Champions’ Amiibo, with each Champion offering their own unique helm corresponding to their Divine Beast. Each Divine Helm resembles the head of the Divine Beast - for example, the Vah Ruta helm looks like the head of an elephant.

When paired with the Ancient Set and upgraded bya Great Fairy, the Divine Helms increase the damage you can do with Ancient weapons, so they offer a useful bonus and are a cool-looking accessory for Link to wear at the same time.

5Not Ganondorf’s Anymore: Sword Of The Six Sages

As the name suggests, the Sword of the Six Sages was forged by six sages in order to fell Ganondorf inTwilight Princess; however, Ganondorf was able to remove the sword and survive, and he even used it as his own weapon afterwards.

As Link doesn’t use the Sword of the Six Sages in Twilight Princess, it’s great that he is able to do so in Breath of the Wild through the Super Smash Bros. Ganondorf Amiibo. The sword emanates a holy luster and is one of the more aesthetically impressive two-handed weapons Link can wield.

4Loyal Steed: Epona

Rather than obtaining Link’s trusty steed Epona at a certain point in the story like in previous Zelda titles, in Breath of the Wild, you can receive her either by scanning the Super Smash Bros. Link or Twilight Princess Link Amiibo.

You can take Epona to a stable to be registered, and funnily enough, the stable owner will recognize her and berate you if you try to name her anything other than Epona, telling you, “You can’t rename a horse of legend!” Unsurprisingly, Epona isone of the best horses in the game- she doesn’t need to be tamed; has balanced strength, speed, and stamina; and even has a gentle temperament. Although Link can mount a variety of animals, it’s nice to see Link reunite with Epona.

By using his Amiibo in Breath of the Wild, you can scan Wolf Link into the game. A helpful companion across Hyrule, Wolf Link isn’t purely aesthetic, as he attacks enemies and hunts animals, allowing you to collect monster drops and meat.

Sadly, Wolf Link only has three hearts as default, but you can increase them if you complete the Cave of Shadows dungeon using the Amiibo in Twilight Princess HD. Regardless, exploring Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule with Wolf Link by your side only enhances the experience - who wouldn’t wanta cute dog companion?

2Just Need The Ocarina: Hero Of Time Set And Biggoron’s Sword

By scanning the Link Ocarina of Time Amiibo, you have the chance to pull the Hero of Time set, modeled after Ocarina of Time Link, as well as the Biggoron’s Sword. The Hero of Time set is a nostalgic tribute, and Breath of the Wild Link suits it well.

Biggoron’s Sword is one of the most well-known weapons in the series other than the Master Sword, and was in fact twice as powerful in Ocarina of Time. Sadly, this isn’t the same for Breath of the Wild’s Biggoron’s Sword, but it’s still great to see it return.

1Almighty Power: Fierce Deity Set And Sword

In Majora’s Mask, you’re given the Fierce Deity Mask by one of the Moon Children after collecting every mask in the game, allowing Link to transform into the powerful Fierce Deity. It’s marginally easier to get your hands on the mask, matching armor set, and sword in Breath of the Wild, if you’re persistent with scanning the Majora’s Mask Link Amiibo.

The Fierce Deity is a hot topic among Zelda theorists because of its mysterious origins and sheer power, making it even more exciting to wear it in the game and use the sword as much as you like.
