The long, long wait forThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis almost over, but no matter how much of an agonizing time you think you’ve had waiting for launch, I guarantee you that Redditor u/theDuckPancake has had a much more taxing experience.
Almost two and half years ago, u/theDuckPancake set out on a mission to draw a bad picture of Breath of the Wild every day until the launch of Tears of the Kingdom. Every single day, they’d post their badly drawn comic strips and images to the Breath of the Wild subreddit, much to the joy of a fanbase that only grew as more pictures came in. With Tears of the Kingdom launching tomorrow, and after well over 1,000 pictures shared to the subreddit, they’ve finally putting down their digital pencil.

To celebrate the occasion, u/theDuckPancake has shared one final drawing, thanking everyone for their support and giving them the motivation to keep doing their daily drawings. They have also put together a collage of every single drawing that they posted over the course of the full 914 days, with a big “thank you” displayed across the middle.
In the replies to the post, we begin to see how truly beloved u/theDuckPancake is to the Breath of the Wild community, as they answer some questions about their experience. It’s from this AMA that we discover that countless Zelda fans have already offered to buy them Tears of the Kingdom, that they used their finger and their phone for every single drawing, and that it took roughly 10 - 30 minutes coming up with and then drawing each picture.
The rest of the replies are made up of people thanking u/theDuckPancake for their efforts over the past two and a half years, with many dishing out the term “legend” to describe their work. Hopefully, the only thing u/theDuckPancake does tomorrow is dress themselves in their comfiest gamer gear, sit down, and play a bit of Tears of the Kingdom.
For now though, all we can do is count down the hours until Tears of the Kingdom finally arrives, so why not go ahead and check out some reviews in the meantime? Unsurprisingly, Tears of the Kingdom is currently one of the highest rated games on review aggregate site OpenCritic ever, and will very likely stay that way as more reviews roll in.
