Summer Games Done Quickreturns this May for a weekend packed with impressive speedruns in some of the biggest games. The full schedule, which includes the names of all the speedrunners taking part and what they will be trying to achieve in front of a live audience, has now been revealed. There’s a lot of exciting stuff on there, but the most impressive slot of the event may well go to the speedrunner who will be attempting to completeBreath of the Wildwhile wearing a blindfold.

Yes, while most of us can do little more than watch on in awe as people run through games that took us months to finish in a matter of hours (and sometimes mere minutes), there’s a part of the speedrunning community for whom even that isn’t good enough. Blindfolded speedrunning is a thing too.SGDQ’s schedulehas revealed Bubzia will be showing the world how it’s done on June 4, the final day of the event with a one-hour 45-minute slot allotted to them, so no pressure.

Depending on Bubzia’s blindfolded Breath of the Wild prowess, which is presumably pretty good, one hour 45 minutes should actually be plenty of time to any% the latest Zelda game. No, I’m not saying that because I think I could do it in less time, but because the current world record fora blindfolded Breath of the Wild speedrun is 58 minutes and 49 seconds. Set last November, if Bubzia comes anywhere close to that time, they may even have the chance to go back into Hyrule and pick up a few Korok Seeds for good measure.

Breath of the Wild isn’t the only game some people can complete incredibly quickly without even using their eyes.Elden Ring has been beaten in less than two hours by a blindfolded player, while aKingdom Heartsplayer managed tobeat Yokora on critical level one with pro codes while wearing a blindfold.Super Mario 64may well have the most active blindfolded speedrunning community, the most recent record run clocking in at just 24 minutes. Mamma mia!

While watching someone beat Breath of the Wild without the ability to see its stunning visuals will be a highlight of this year’s SGDQ, there are a lot of other runs on the schedule to get excited about.Sonic Frontierswill be making its debut at the event, as willPokemon Scarlet & Violet, and someone will even attempt to speedrunRing Fit Adventure. Rather them than me. There will be a lot of other Zelda runs too as even thoughTears of the Kingdomisn’t on the docket, SGDQ begins on May 28, less than three weeks after the highly anticipated sequel’s launch.
