Celebrities revealing they have a love for video games can often take fans by surprise. None quite as much asStone Cold Steve Austin revealing he’s a Breath of the Wild guy. The Texas Rattlesnake has now returned to break all of our Zelda-loving hearts, confirming he doesn’t actually love, or even play,Breath of the Wildafter all.
Ryan Satin sat down with Austin and wanted to find out for sure if he really does kick back with hisSwitchwhile drinking an ice-cold Broken Skull IPA. Turns out he doesn’t. “Zelda, that was like a rib, an inside rib, my producer says ‘hey, say this’ and it stoked so much stuff on social media,” Austin revealed, breaking the hearts of video game-playing wrestling fans the world over.

“I never really have been a big video game guy, but in the business that I’ve been in, I’ve been fortunate to be in so many.” The topic of Zelda games came up when Austin interviewed Cody Rhodes on Broken Skull Sessions. The American Nightmare is very much a video game fan, quickly answeringOcarina of Time. Austin hit back with Breath of the Wild real fast, hence us all thinking he really does play it.
Honestly, deep down, even though I really wanted to believe it, I knew one of the greatest wrestlers of all time wasn’t into video games. The idea of Stone Cold stomping mudholes in Bokoblins and walking them dry is great in my head, but never something I truly believed to be a reality. As he said to Satin though, Austin has had a deep connection to video games for decades having appeared in just about everyWWEgame since the mid-1990s.
That includes the most recent installment,WWE 2K23. No, Austin probably isn’t going to want to play it with you, but since he’s a playable character in the game, you can do the next best thing and play as him, hitting Stunners on anyone who so much as looks at you funny. I’d recommend putting him to work againstthe terrifying John Cena action figureyou can unlock by buying the toy on which it’s based from Walmart.
Austin’s indifference towards Zelda games also means he won’t be tied up like the rest of us come May 12.Tears of the Kingdom’s launch is now only a little more than a month away and fan theories about the game continue to swirl, the latest being thatthe floating islands you can ascend to aren’t actually a part of Hyrule at all.
