Akais a unique game. It’s not set in the lead-up to a fight or showdown. Instead, Aka tells the tale of a red panda who isa former soldier. The game starts with Aka traveling to Pine Tree Island to reunite with his friend Thom, and begin a new existence.

This game isn’t fast-paced. Instead, Aka is a slowed-down, calming experience. Don’t be surprised if you spend hours hunting for seeds. With such a slowed-down atmosphere, it might sound surprising but countless hidden areas can be easily missed. This article offers some tips to access some of the hardest-to-find spots in Aka.

9The Cave Behind The Tree

Below the wooden bridge and hollowed-out log at the base of a small waterfall is a big stone that resembles the top of a skull. If Aka walks through the part of the waterfall obscured by a tree, he can walk into a hidden area.

This hidden area contains a large stone walkway surrounded by water. Falling from the ceiling of this hidden room are five waterfalls. It remains uncertain what Aka is supposed to do in this hidden room because no treasures are immediately visible. Perhaps this is nothing more than just an empty hidden room.

8The Pine Tree Island Cave

At the base of Pine Tree Island after breaking some rocks, Aka enters a cave and meetsGudrun, a dragon. Gudrun tells Aka that he came to his cave before the great war and hides where his breath keeps the island warm. Gudrun also requests Aka feed nearby baby dragons, whose mother has gone.

Through the stone gates where the shy ghost appears and to the left of the dragon cave, Aka can enter a small hidden area by swimming. Inside this cave, you’re able to stand on some rocks. You can also take a block that has a human face while two strange creatures stand around and stare at you.

Hidden back in this location is a rock you can break, some seeds, some flowers, and a small but healthy-looking tree. You can utilize this area to grab additional speeds to plant.

6The Hidden Path To Beatrix

On the central area of Pine Tree Island sits a tree whose entrance is blocked by a fence. If Aka uses his axe to remove the fence, he can go up inside this tree.

At the top of the tree, you meet Beatrix, a Queen Bee, who senses that Aka has left his fighting behind him. Beatrix then discusses overcoming past wounds with Aka. She then tells Aka that the island’s land and food have been destroyed by the war and asks for his help in making nature return. If Aka agrees to help then Beatrix gives Aka tulip seeds to grow.

5Ringing The Ghost Temple Bell

On Bamboo Island, down and to the left is a bridge that leads to a bell. While it is not clear, ringing the bell unlocks the ghost temple.

After talking to Boop the Fox, another Red Panda, who tells you about a time when the island was filled with Red Pandas, Aka enters the temple. Inside the temple are two rows of blue glowing flames, a sitting pad, and screens looking out on some snow-covered trees. Aka is given the option to sit down inside the temple. Entering the adjacent building leads to a music mini-game where you must tap buttons on the controller to play the flute.

4The Pirate Boat

On Palm Tree Island, Aka comes upon the parts of what looks like a disassembled pirate boat. The part of the boat closest to the island contains a series of stairs that Aka can ascend. In the backdrop to the right is a wooden bridge and behind the first boat part is a second part of the pirate boat. In between the second flight of stairs on the boat is an entrance that can be easily missed.

If Aka enters this entrance in the boat, he comes across a hidden room filled with barrels, playing cards, and a treasure chest. The chest contains several items including a key and a log.

3Remember Your Hat

Likely the last new island you’ll visit in Aka, when you land on Maple Tree Island you will immediately begin to climb up hills to where a ski lift is found. Along the way, you meet Flare who tells you that you look lost. If you do not wear a winter hat, you will be unable to access this hidden area.

At the top of this mountain, you meet Knut, a snowman, who tells you that he feels incomplete because he used to have a nose but no longer does. If you complete the quest that Knut gives you, Aka can give the snowman a new nose, so he feels whole again.

2Palm Tree Island Drum Cave

On Palm Tree Island, you will come to a cliff with three trees planted at the edge. What many players miss is that there is a secret area to the left along the path. You will first need to position a torch on a small shelf situated on the left side of the cave to fully see things.

After planting the torch and entering this hidden area, you are given the option to play one of Aka’s many musical quick-time event-based games. This one involves a drum. Winning this mini-game doesn’t directly do anything, though.

1Clearing The Garden

On Maple Tree Island, through a hole in a cave, you come to a small garden that is blocked with a vine. If you have an anti-bramble potion, you’re able to use it to clear this vine and then enter the garden area.

If you’re interested in achieving the “No More Traps (Maple Island)” achievement, you will need to access this hidden area and use your axe to remove all the weeds and pieces of stone found there.
