A long staple in the series,Fire Emblem: Engagefeatures the return of unique S-supports and romance. Finally, you’ll be able to romance whomever you wish, and unlike previous titles, you’ll be able to spend the last few chapters swashbuckling the Corrupted with your chosen partner.

Getting an S-Support, however, is a little tricky, and you’ll need to go out of your way on the story path to get the item you’ll need. Thankfully, your reward is not only the bonuses of an S-support ally on the field, but romance comes with its own special perks and boons you’ll certainly want on your side.
Building To An S-Support
In order to romance any unit in a Fire Emblem game, you’ll need tobuild your Supportwith a character of your choice. While you may build a relationship with all characters up to an A-level, you canonly choose one to hold an S-Supportwith you.
In Fire Emblem: Engage, there isno longer a limitto which characters you can build max rapport with. Charactersof all ages and genderscan have an S-Support with Alear.
Not all S-Supports are romantic in nature. Most S-Supports in Fire Emblem: Engage appear to be a vague friendship pact, rather than a romantic entanglement.
To get to an S-level Support, you must firstbuild your relationshipwith a character through Support levels C to A via various methods:
*If you use Seadall’s Fortune Telling mechanic, any two units that are paired in the cards will gain extra Support points with one another during the next battle.
Once a character has had their A-level Support conversation with Alear, you’ll need togive them the Pact Ring.
Giving a unit the Pact Ring will immediately trigger the S-Support conversation, and you canonly do this once.
Paired Endings And Relationships
Unlike previous Fire Emblem titles in recent history, there areno paired endings in Fire Emblem: Engage.Which units hold high support levels with one another has no effect on each unit’s ending.
As such, the only benefits to having two characters (that do not include Alear) gain support with one another are theirin-battle bonusesand any enjoyment you get out of their conversation interactions.

Earning The Pact Ring And Who To Give It To
To obtain the Pact Ring, you’ll need tocomplete Chapter 22. This will unlockAlear’s paralogue, The Connector.
The Pact Ring is the prizefor completing this paralogue, and the map itself is thankfully quite easy compared to most other paralogues you would have faced before.
Once you’ve earned the Pact Ring, it will not be in your Convoy, but you’ll be able totake the Pact Ring out of the Mementos Drawerin Alear’s bedroom.
To give the ring,start by talking with any NPC you hold an A-rank with. A special “Give Pact Ring” prompt will appear under “Gifts” when speaking with characters you show a close enough bond with.
If you cannot find the NPC you’re looking for, you can search for them using theSomniel map menu.In the case that they do not appear, you canreset this map by restingin the bed in Alear’s room.
Should you misclick and unintentionally try to give the ring to someone you didn’t mean to give it to, the game does have a safeguard that asks to confirm your certainty in giving the ring to this character.
The Pact Ring, Mementos, And Paired Endings
Beyond earning a special paired ending between Alear and your chosen S-Support and viewing their conversation, there is one additional benefit to giving the Pact Ring: the “Boon of Elyos.”
Once this ring is given, Alear and their chosen partner will begranted an additional skill called the Boon of Elyoswhich grantsadditional Critical and Dodgebased on the number of other characters who have moved first in the turn.
In return for giving the Pact Ring, Alear will alsoreceive a Memento.This Memento has no mechanical usage, but it can be found on display in theMementos Drawer in Alear’s bedchamber.
