The Raccoon City gang is getting back together for another CGI adventure.Resident Evil: Death Island is bringing back iconic characters from across the series for an Avengers-style team-up. While most resemble their updated looks from the handful of recent remakes, their voices may be different. In fact, it has been confirmed that Matt Mercer will be voicing Leon S. Kennedy rather thanResident Evil 4 Remake’s Nick Apostolides. The voice actor and D&D connoisseur is no stranger to the role, having first taken up the mantle in 2011’s heavily criticizedResident Evil 6. While the game wasnot as well-receivedas others in the series, it did cement Mercer as Kennedy. For the next few years, he would go on to voice the character in several pieces of media, including Resident Evil: Damnation and Resident Evil: Vendetta.Related:Resident Evil Is Still The Most Fun Series To PlatinumThen with 2019’s casting of Nick Apostolides as Leon in theResident Evil 2 Remake, it looked like Mercer was done with the role. Apostolides went on the portray Kennedy in the CGI film Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and this year’s Resident Evil 4 Remake. However, not long after a new trailer for Death Island dropped, Mercer took to social media to confirm that he would once again be bringing Mr Kennedy to life.

It’s still unclear who will be lending their voices to the rest of the Death Island cast. With Resident Evil being such an expansive franchise, there are plenty of options for each character. However, with Death Island confirmed as a direct sequel to Resident Evil: Vendetta, it is possible more Vendetta alumni will be making a return.

Still, while we may not know who is voicing who, we do know that our favorite zombie killers are in for some fresh hell in this new film. Not everything is fresh though, aswe might be going back in time to Raccoon Citywith a flashback, as one eagle-eyed fan spotted the welcome sign in the newest trailer, hinting at an origin story for the newest villain, Dylan.

Resident Evil: Death Island focuses on Leon Kennedy as he heads out on another rescue mission. This time, his target is not the president’s daughter but a Dr Antonio Taylor. Meanwhile, Chris Redfield is in the middle of an investigation involving a zombie outbreak in San Francisco. Former STARS members Rebecca Chambers and Jill Valentine end up embroiled in all of this, as does Claire Redfield. Oh, and there looks to be zombie sharks involved…you know the usual.
