Resident Evilfans are discussing what they’d want to see from a potential remake of the series' controversial fifth entry, including playable Sheva, Lost Nightmares being a prologue, and more.

Although things looked a little shaky after the disappointing remake ofResident Evil 3,Resident Evil 2andResident Evil 4’s remakes have proven without a doubt thatCapcom’s games might be even better the second time around. Now that Resident Evil 4’s remake is out of the way, fans are looking ahead to the future and discussing what they’d like to see when Capcom eventually remakesResident Evil 5, one of the series' most controversial entries.

Capcom hasn’t yet confirmed that a remake of the fifth game is in development (although it made some pretty overt references to it during the final hours of Resident Evil 4), but that hasn’t stopped fans from putting together a little wishlist.Over on the Resident Evil subreddit, redditor SavagePhantoms90 started a thread asking others what they think should be included in a remake.

On the matter of Sheva, there are a few different suggestions on how she should be implemented. Redditor SimonShepard suggests that she should be playable from the start of the game and that players should be able to swap between her and Chris instantaneously, similarly to Resident Evil 0. Another important request with Sheva is the ability to swap which shoulder she aims from and oh my god I didn’t realise how much I needed this until now.

Speaking of characters, another common request on the thread is that Jill needs to play a much bigger role in the remake than she does in the original game, which is a fair comment considering she’s really only in a few cutscenes and the Lost Nightmares DLC. Speaking of which, several comments suggest that Lost Nightmares needs to be baked into the main game, although considering how Separate Ways has been handled with Resident Evil 4’s remake, that might not be such an obvious pick.

There are, of course, some more silly suggestions in the mix. One popular answer on the thread is that the game needs to keep theinfamous “Gimme an egg” linethat plays when one player requests an egg from the other. This probably wasn’t purposeful from Capcom, but Resident Evil 4’s remake leans into the memes a fair bit, so we can see this one being turned into an in-joke.

Speaking of Resident Evil in-jokes, the prevailing opinion from the thread is thatChris' infamous boulder punch(which has been referenced countless times in the series now) should be kept in the game. It makes no sense, but everyone agrees that it’s just too iconic to be cut from the remake.
