As great asResident Evil 4’s remake, it’s pretty disappointing that Ada Wong isn’t a playable character in either the main campaign or in the remake’s Mercenaries. Thankfully, it isn’t 2005 anymore, and modders have already put the enigmatic spy back into the game.
As spotted onNexusMods,“Playable Ada With Animations”from modder Raq does just what it says on the tin - it allows you to play as Resident Evil’s resident spy, complete with her own unique animations lifted from her moveset in Mercenaries. A look at the screengrabs of the mod in action shows an impressive addition to the game mode. In fact, it looks seamless enough to make you believe she was there the whole time…as she should be. It even comes with two different outfit options, including her Remake look and her classic red dress.

It seems odd to leave Ada Wong out of the rotation of characters available in Mercenaries mode. After all, she plays a significant role in the narrative of the game and the overall lore of the franchise, certainly more than Hunk ever did. So why omit her at launch? Well, there may be a good reason for that if you look back at the original Resident Evil 4.
Beyond Mercenaries mode, the original Resident Evil 4 contained a few game modes that let you play as Ada Wong. One, Assignment: Ada, was a short minigame while another, Separate Ways, was almost like a short campaign that explained what Ada was doing during the events of Resident Evil 4. The remake doesn’t yet feature Separate Ways or Assignment: Ada, and she’s also not playable in the main game, so it makes some sense why she’s not here yet.
Note that we said notyet. More and more evidence has piled up over the last few weeks to suggest thatCapcom is currently working on adding the Separate Ways DLCto Resident Evil 4’s remake, as well as putting Ada Wong and Albert Wesker in The Mercenaries. That hasn’t formally been announced by Capcom yet, but datamining has uncovered character themes for the pair of them, as well as their individual movesets - which is what’s being used to create this moveset for Ada now.
it’s just a matter of time until Ada Wong becomes playable for real. That being said, we still have no idea when all of this will be incorporated into the main game, but at least we know that it is on the way. For now, though, Raq’s playable Ada mod should tide you over if you don’t want to sit around waiting for Capcom to announce the inevitable. Hopefully, an official announcement will come soon.
