Leon Kennedy is thankfully still a walking bundle of cheese inResident Evil 4 Remake, spouting one-liners to himself that I’m sure he thinks arehilarious. Some are new, some are classics, but one of those classics nearly didn’t make the cut, likehis iconic bingo line.
During a Responds To IGN Comments video,Leon voice actor Nick Apostolidesrevealed that there was another line in its place originally, but after a while of recording, everyone agreed that it felt off.

“They actually wrote another line in place of that and we did it a few times and it didn’t feel right on set and the cinematic director said, ‘For giggles, let’s throw in the bingo line’”, Apostolides said. “And I was like, ‘Really?!’ And then he put it in, and it made the game. Where’s everyone going, bingo?”
It’s not the only classic line they kept. As Apostolides says in the video, Leon still says “hasta luego”, which Apostolides added feels right out of something like Die Hard. Given how the originalResident Evil 4felt like a splice between horror and action movies, that makes sense. Leon Kennedy could easily throw down with Rambo and John McClane, maybe even the Terminator given how well he handled Mr X andthe Village Chief.
However, while he still says hasta luego and his famous bingo quip, Leon, unfortunately, doesn’t say, “No thanks, bro” toRamon Salazarafter he says, “I’ve been expecting you, my brethren.” Though I’m sure modders will get around to it soon enough for those playing on PC.
We don’t know what the original line was, as Apostolides doesn’t divulge that information, but fans are happy that whatever it was got replaced. “They made the correct choice,” u/Garlador commented. “I don’t want to live in a world without the bingo line,” u/Lord_Saddler4 adds. I wonder if it’s the real Saddler.
Apostolides’s comments have started a discussion in the Reddit thread about what original lines thatdidget cut people miss most, with u/AshenRathian bringing up the aforementioned “No thanks, bro” quip, while u/Living-Ghost was sad to see “Your right hand comes off?” ironically get cut.
Other losses include “I knew you’d be fine if you landed on your butt”, “A senior moment perhaps?”, “Saddler, you’re small time”, and “Rain or shine, you’re going down”. It’s a shame to see them gone, but at least we’ll always have bingo, original or otherwise.
