Resident Evil 4just loves putting Leon in a tough spot. Thefirst encounter in the villageputs you on the back foot, as you run from a frenzied mob, one of them with a chainsaw. However, as you progress, you’ll pick up more weapons, ammo, and tools which make picking off Ganados much easier.

Soon enough, you’ll be able to gun and roundhouse kick your way through most crowds, but the game still has ways of messing with you –mostly involving Ashley. Despite having a military arsenal at your disposal, there’s always a chance of Ashley getting killed or taken away by a Ganado while your focus is elsewhere.

However, it seems that there’s one particular Ganado who has managed to annoy almost everybody who’s played the game. There’s one particular point in the game where Leon has to instruct Ashley to hold a wheel in place so that he can get to the other side and turn on the power.

Unfortunately, doing so triggers a rather stressful encounter, which has you protecting Ashley from Ganados trying to take her. You can dispatch them by simply shooting through the bars, but upon heading back, you encounter a Regenerator. While the fight is hard enough on its own, a last, annoying Ganado also sneaks up on Ashley, forcing you to juggle the fight and protecting her.

Redditor bitiye posted about their annoyance with this Ganago, and it looks like everyone agrees. In fact, I coincidentally played through this sequence last night and totally agree as well.

“Who else hates this Ganado that only spawns when you’re preoccupied,” wrote bitiye, evidently annoyed. “It’s why she always gets grabbed even though you killed the first four Ganados. This fifth guy is one sneaky bastard,” they continued in a comment. “They must be communicating through earpieces because he only shows up when the Regenerador ambushes you. Most hated Ganado for me on the Island.”

“Holy shit this part had me cussing out the TV. I eventually just tanked hits from the Regenerator while I shot all the Ganados,” agreed BananaPerfect8866. “Also, can we talk about how you need to be PIN POINT accurate with the Plagas or it won’t count on the Regenerator.”

“I had to retry this spot like 10 times. In my defense, playing on hardcore. It was so frustrating. I’d kill the 5 or so enemies coming for Ashley and then run past the regenerator to get to the bridge, only to have Ashley get grabbed and while I attempt to shoot her abductor the regenerator would attack me. So many game overs,” said the aptly named FallenRanger.

However, some players had tips on how to handle the encounter, mostly involving picking off the initial Ganagos without going near the first Regenerator, and then running to the bridge before that last, annoying Ganado reaches her.
