Resident Evil 4fans are the best. The remake has hardly been out for a week and the level of sheer imagination, humour, and general wholesomeness present across the community is something I wish video games were capable of more often. We all share a collective love for Leon Kennedy and his himbo behaviour, while fun is poked at how ridiculous things like pirate-themed firing ranges and cute collectible keyrings are in a game otherwise meant to be quite serious. But the whole thing is a campy well of nonsense, and we adore it.
Things have now reached a new echelon however, with a single artist transforming Ashley Graham into a cute little mouse with a love of cheese resulting in an explosion of hilarious art, jokes, and memes. You could even say it’s a little bit cheesy. That’s a pun Leon would make after killing a rodent-themed bioweapon, so I’m counting it as a win.

Moushley Graham, as some interpretations have decided to call her, is basically the same character except she’s a funny little cartoon mouse. She’s got the same sense of fashion, the same quick wit, and the same love for goofy jokes and Leon’s admiration. The love for cheese might be new, although it never came up when she was a human so who knows.
I don’t know why I love this presidential little mouse, but I would lay down my life for her at a moment’s notice. There’s also something oddly hilarious about Los Plagas picking her up by the tail and slipping them in their pockets while Leon is busy doing backflips, or she sits atop his shoulder like an adorable little sidekick demanding he purchases cheese that she can go to town on. The personality of a mouse also fits her own - friendly, mischievous, and capable of far more than you’d expect given her small size. This version of Ashley can’t throw chairs through flaming windows or fistbump when Leon lands a headshot, but she’d sure be handy to slip through a grate to grab keys and distract pesky infected. Great - now I want an entire game built around Moushley Graham.
Imagine if they played it completely straight. Leon is assigned the high profile mission of rescuing the President’s daughter, and after fighting his way through murderous villagers and nonsensical architecture he doesn’t stumble across a human, but a chatty little mouse. It’d basically be Resident Evil meets Stuart Little, with our duo of heroes taking time to warm to one another, realising that despite their different sizes - and species - they soon become besties who can take on the world.
Or at least hunting down cheese and making it home safe. It’s just neat, and to see a cute meme like this capture the community’s imagination is a testament to how much Resident Evil and its characters mean to people. Even if depicted as sentient mice with adorable bespoke clothes and a lexicon consisting entirely of bad puns.
If you’re reading this Capcom, please make a spin-off consisting entirely of anthropomorphic Resident Evil characters. Ashley - excuse me -Moushley,must be protected at all costs.
