The originalResident Evil 4is a much beloved title in the series, and a lot of people put that down to the work of director and series creator Shinji Mikami. When it was revealed that Shinji Mikami wouldn’t be coming back to oversee work onResident Evil 4 Remake, many were understandably nervous that the original’s mixture of goofy charm and intense action wouldn’t be respected. Now that the game has released, we know that’s not the case, and Shinji Mikami himself has now taken the time to finish the title and has given his final verdict. For all of you that have been enjoying the adventures of Leon and Ashley over the past few week, you’ll be pleased to know that Mikami has been right there alongside you. Posting a picture of the final moments of Resident Evil 4 Remake to his personal Twitter account, Mikami reveals that he’s now finished the game and “enjoyed it very much”. Mikami has also been very open in the past about how he trusted the team at Capcom to do right by the title and not mess it up. He’s also spoken about attempting to help young game developers to improve the future of the industry, something which he’s clearly achieved with the recent success of Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, which Mikami founded in 2010.
He may haveleft the studio earlier this year, but he’s left behind a talented group of devs that are responsible for one of the year’s best games. Where Mikami is going to ply his trade now is unknown, but at least he’s able to carve out some time to play a true classic he inspired.
Speaking of people involved in Resident Evil 4 Remake actually playing the game themselves, Ashley’s face model (Ella Freya) recently uploaded a video to her YouTube channel in which she goes to see her face on the game’s front cover and marketing for what is assumedly the first time. Even though the game has been out for a few weeks now, Ella Freya has only just managed to carve out some time to track the game down in the wild, andher reaction is about as wholesome as you might expect.
