Red Dead Redemption 2is still pulling in players. In fact, Rockstar was able to shift around five million more copies over the last quarter, a truly impressive feat considering the age of the game. The open-world adventure has reached more than 50 million copies sold and it seems an entire new generation of players are discovering the wonders of this masterpiece. And there is a lot to uncover.

Over on the Red Dead subreddit, a recent thread has attracted hundreds of comments as players shared some of their spookiest, uncanniest, most out-of-the-way finds and discoveries. There are creepy ones, funny ones, fortuitous quirks, little nooks and details all over the sprawling map Rockstar created. And while players have had a few years to explore, there will still be mysteries out there especially when some of them can be so easily missed if not keeping an eye out.

The thread was created by user kdaak with the title, “What thing about RDR2 do you feel not many people know about?”, underneath which is a picture of Old World Scripts, a runestone that is found in the Roanoke Ridge region of New Hanover. This runestone happens to be one of the many mysteries that Rockstar has placed in the world just waiting for players to find it.

One comment that received many upvotes mentioned the voices heard in the Annesburg woods that is explained if the player watches one of the short movies available in the theatre in Valentine or St Denis. In fact, general creepiness was something many pointed to as one of the things the game does well, with Roanoke Ridge being suffused with it. One player mentioned a “devil cave” with cave paintings made from blood.

Another neat little detail that some might not have noticed is the fact that gold pocket watches glow in the dark, which can be handy for those looking for loot at night seeing as the pieces can glimmer. That one came from u/N4NO who had more than 800 upvotes at the time of writing.

Another top tip comes via u/Scoutspyroheavy12 who advised players not to do the Emmett Granger stranger mission as John as it will make the pitchfork disappear and you will be unable to do chores in Beecher’s Hope. In fact, there are dozens and dozens of great discoveries and observations in the thread and it is well worth reading at leisure. It really adds to the case that Red Dead Redemption 2 might be one of the best games ever made. There’s one more little detail worth highlighting that was shared on the thread.

User boysen_bean shared a little detail that had more than a thousand upvoted and many appreciative comments. It’s about our equine friends. “you’re able to tell if a horse will kick you as you rifle through saddle bags by looking at its ears”, the Reddit user wrote. “If the horses ears are back, it’s angry and will kick you”. Now how about that for detail.
