For instance, there are two famous characters called Raiden and two famous scientists named Dr. Nefarious.

Perhaps the most egregious example, however, is the name, Joker. There are plenty of Jokers in gaming, and they’re not all from theBatmanuniverse. So, this begs the question, which one is the most iconic and compelling of the bunch?
6Joker From SaGa Frontier
As is often the case with characters named Joker, the one from SaGa Frontier is unpredictable. He serves as the main antagonist during Emelia’s story, which begins with him murdering her fiance Ren - or so it seems. By the end of the tale, you actually find out he is Ren.
The reason the guy looks and acts so differently is that he is possessed by a mask. So, this Joker isn’t entirely at fault for his morally questionable behavior. Yet, Ren only gets freed from the possession at the end of Emelia’s story. Thus, he is a nuisance for most of the adventure, even though he doesn’t fight you. He’s annoying because he keeps escaping from you.

Either way, he’s one of the most understated Jokers in gaming. This is because he’s not an unpredictable clown or serial killer. He’s just a talented soldier working for a PMC. His primary role in the story is to assist you on missions. Along the way, he shares some wit and banter with his allies. The guy genuinely seems like a good person and a positive presence to have around, which can’t be said about some other gaming jokers.
4Joker From Batman: The TellTale Series And Batman: The Enemy Within
There are plenty of different versions of Joker from the Batman universe. Yet, the one from the TellTale games stands out more than most. This is because he’s not the standard chaotic clown. Yes, he’s as erratic as the others, but he isn’t as cruel. In fact, he’s sympathetic.
He is a man who is insecure and has abandonment issues. As such, he’s very paranoid and clingy. Batman’s actions toward him shape who he becomes. Whether he transforms into his traditional murderous self or becomes a vigilante depends on how the Dark Knight handles him. This makes him one of the most fascinating versions of the character. Plus, he is one of the reasons why TellTale’sBatman games are some of the hero’s best.

3Joker From Persona 5
The protagonist from Persona 5 uses Joker as a code name. Why he needs a secretive code name is because he is part of a group known as the Phantom Thieves. This is a team of rebellious teenagers whose goal is to change the hearts of evil adults.

They do this by entering a palace within the Metaverse, which is created by their target’s corrupt desires. Once there, they forcibly change the villain’s personality by stealing a treasure that represents their desires and emotions. It’s all fairly complex, but the important thing is that Joker and his friends attempt to make bad people better. So, this is a nice Joker and a very mysterious one, as he doesn’t really talk.
2Joker From The Mass Effect Series
Commander Shepard has many party members throughout theMass Effectseries. But his most loyal companion doesn’t head out on missions with him. Instead, he serves as his pilot who helps him traverse the galaxy. This is, of course, Jeff Moreau, who is best known as Joker.
He received that nickname from his flight school instructor due to the fact he never smiled. He’s not so glum during the games, but the Joker name still works since the man is hilarious. Throughout the series,he delivers many comical quotes. However, he doesn’t let comedy get in the way of his duty, as he is an excellent pilot, despite having a brittle bone disease.

1Joker From The Batman: Arkham Series
The Joker from the Batman: Arkham series is one of the most entertaining characters in gaming history. Yet, he is also one of the cruelest. After all, the maniacal clown has no qualms about killing people or causing them misery. He doesn’t do it for vengeance or money or to make any sort of point.
The man simply loves causing chaos and gets a sick joy out of the sight of people suffering. He particularly loves to torment Batman due to the hero’s strong moral compass. Joker’s ultimate goal is to break that moral compass and send the Dark Knight on a rampage. His efforts to do that are a constant source of entertainment.
