Them’s Fightin' Herdsis one of the best fighting games you can play, with a beautifully executed art style inspired by the MLP universe (actually, originally so much inspired that Hasbro sent them a cease and desist letter). Because of that letter, Mane6 went out to create its universe and a deep and rich story to go with it.

With a roster of eight fighters, there’s some variety in the characters you can choose from, and when it comes to the best, it’s thanks to their stats and move sets that you’ll be more likely to win any battle the game puts in front of you.
8Pom
Pom of the Meadow is the Master of Puppets in the game, even though she’s a bit more nervous about her role in defending the land against the Predators. Accompanied by her trusty sheepdogs, you have various attacks to use to your advantage.
Even though her ability to summonup to three dogsand cause a puppy Stampede with her Super Move, her summoning is also her main downfall. Without the help of her trusty companions, she really isn’t that much of a threat to your opponents. Plus she also has one of the lowest health bars in-game.

7Shanty
Shanty is the first DLC character to set foot in Them’s Fightin' Herds. With her story not being connected to the main quest, the one thing we know about Shanty is that she’s on the hunt for the Prophet’s Key, the most valuable treasure there is!
She is the one fighter you should pick if you love the rushdown gameplay in fighting games. But, with one of the fastest dash attacks you’ve ever seen, don’t fret when you realize her poke moves aren’t that impressive. Unfortunately, Shanty also has low Health, like Pom and Tianhuo, and lacks decent defense.

6Paprika
The Alpake tend to be more on the sober side of things and aren’t too excitable, but Paprika is the one that breaks the mold and brings cheer and love wherever she goes. The High Plains champion uses all her affection, even in combos and attacks.
Paprika will be one of the fastest fighters you get to take control of in Them’s Fightin' Herds. Her final Super Move Embrace does incredible damage, but it does take a bit, mainly because it’s a grab move, and she won’t move toward your opponent to complete the attack. Also, another downside to Paprika is her Teleportation moves, which tend to give your opponent an advantage over you and hit you mid-Zippy.

5Velvet
The champion of the deerfolk is one of the best zoning fighters in the game. Velvet has a wide array of winter-centric attacks, like Icicles, Ice Eruption, and Shatters, all of which make her outstanding in this game field. However, the main downfall of Velvet isn’t just her personality but her speed, as she is one of the slowest in the game.

But don’t worry about that too much because you’ll be able to take down all of your foes in no time if you can master her Special Moves and, most notably, her Super Move, Ice Cyclone, and the follow-up Frostbite. First, have your opponent pull towards the Cyclone, then land Frostbit to slow them down for five seconds.
4Arizona
Arizona is one of the first fighters you will put your hands on.The young cowhas all the right moves for a beginner to start on the right… hoof. Even though she lacks range, her lasso ensures you get your opponents right where you want them.
Arizona starts with an empty Magic Meter with three Stocks to fill. However, it doesn’t take long because every lasso hit charges it up. Once you charge up your Magic Meter, be ready to enjoy the EX version of her special moves: Stomp, which causes an earthquake, and Headbuck, a charge attack. Additionally, her Level 1 Super Move, Trample, charges a powerful headbutt that can hit your opponent no matter the distance — a great fighter to get used to the game and a great choice.

3Oleander
After reading the Unicornomicon and making a deal with FHTNG (aka Fred), Oleander became one of the strongest unicorns ready to defend Fœnum. This well-rounded character specializes in both puppeteering and zoning attacks. She also has a great set of basic attacks, making her highly effective at most ranges.

Oleander’s companion, Fred, is also one of the strongest beings in the game. You’ll realize how the damage output increases when you fight alongside him after using your Level 2 Super Move Hi, Fred! Enjoy some intense gameplay when you pick Oleander as your fighter.
2Texas
Another DLC character from the game isArizona’s dad, Texas. He’s the protector of the Cattlekind and leader of The Prairie. After pondering what to do about his daughter’s mission, he decides to join her and leave their lands in the hands of Minnesota, his wife, and Arizona’s mother.
Texas is the quintessential grappler fighter, and he’s so great at what he does that he can send his bells across the screen to damage your opponent immensely. He also has the highest HP at 5500 points. Texas’s Super Move Prarie Pummel, Pummel Pillar, and Cattlepult will keep you glued to the screen if you can execute them properly.

1Tianhuo
She isn’t just a Longma; she’s also the Captain of the Imperial Guard of Huoshan, making her the first in line to defend the Empress of Huoshan and the Key Keeper of the Empire. Tianhuo, out of all the Champions, is the most mature and used to battle, but also the one that commands the most respect.
With a selection of aerial attacks that will have your opponent willing to quit at any moment, you might find that you’ll be fine even though Tianhuo has a low HP bar once you understand how to use all of her abilities, like her Fel Spark to keep you opponent at range and close in with your Firecracker Attacks. Also, her Level 2 Super Ran Shao Feng incredibly boosts Tinahuo’s damage, giving you a chance to end a fight faster than you could imagine.
