ThePokemonHorizons started the post-Ash Pokemon Anime with a lot of questions. What exactly is the deal with Liko’s pendant? Why is that group of trainers hunting for it? With all these mysteries, something else on viewers' minds is what Pokemon co-protagonists Liko and Roy will capture on their journey.

With so many Pokemon to catch, alongside Liko’s Sprigatito and Roy’s Fuecoco, we should explore the possibilities of what Pokemon may join Liko and Roy.
10Liko: Pawmot
Given her interactions with Friede and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers, it is natural Liko may be inspired by Friede’s partner, Captain Pikachu. In that case, why not the residentPikachu cloneof the Paldea region? Pawmot is a powerful Electric/Fighting-type Pokemon that Liko could add to her squad.
Influenced by Captain Pikachu, the two would train together to unlock Pawmot’s signature move, Double Shock. Given it can also learn the move Revival Blessing, a technique that brings a fainted Pokemon back up, that could be useful on Liko’s journey.

9Roy: Toedscruel
A Pokemon that debuted in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Toedscruel shares a resemblance to the older Pokemon Tentacruel, but has evolved differently. Rather than inhabiting the water like the Kanto native Tentacruel, Toedscruel lives on land.
Given that Roy is from the Kanto Region, it’d make sense for him to obtain one of these Pokemon, since they’re similar to creatures from his home. Roy could find this fascinating and add this Pokemon to his team.

8Liko: Palafin
A unique Pokemon introduced in the Paldea Region, Palafin is a pure Water type with a powerful ability. The ability allows it to change between its two forms whenever switched out. Palafin’sZero to Hero abilitysounds perfect for Pokemon Horizons to showcase.
Liko’s shy personality could contrast well with Palafin’s extroverted nature. Its heroic disposition would charm Liko enough into catching and bonding with the dolphin Pokemon. Given the antagonists are after Liko for her pendant, the superhero dolphin sounds like the perfect protector.

7Roy: Clodsire
The goofy Ground/Poison-type is one of the first Pokemon most players encounter when taking their first steps through Paldea. This familiarity makes it an optimal choice for joining one of our protagonists on their journey. Roy is the more easygoing of the two trainers, and thus, Clodsire would fit well with him.

His playful personality would mesh well with a Pokemon as loveable as Clodsire. Given its popularity with fans, this could be a wise choice.
6Liko: Tinkaton
A stand-out from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Tinkaton is a Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon who has become popular with fans. Its humorousPokedex entryand charming design have had a hand in turning the Pokemon iconic. This, coupled with the fact that the Pokemon anime tends to give female characters feminine Pokemon, has created a golden opportunity for Tinkaton to join Liko’s team.
Pokemon Horizons could feature many gags centered around Tinkaton’s love of attacking Corvidknight, while having her be one of Liko’s hardest hitters.

5Roy: Grafaiai
The Pokemon anime is no stranger to comic relief Pokemon. Ash’s Torkoal, Totodile, and Gliscor all added an aspect of humor to the series through their lovable gags. This is something Pokemon Horizons could continue, and a Pokemon who could continue this tradition is Grafaiai.
A Poison/Normal-type Pokemon, this creature is known for marking its territory with the paint it oozes from its fingers. Roy’s Grafaiai could attempt to paint the Rising Volt Tacklers ship once it’s been caught, claiming its new home.

4Liko: Armarouge
One of the new characters introduced in Pokemon Horizons is Amethio, a trainer hunting Liko down. His partner Pokemon is the Fire/Ghost-type Ceruledge. The fire blades Pokemon has already proven itself a capable foe in its battle with Friede’s Charizard and Pikachu.
Given his importance, Liko will likely battle him throughout Pokemon Horizons. With that in mind, Ceruledges’s counterpart, Armarouge, would make a perfect fit for Liko. Armarouge could display the difference between these two trainers as Liko’s partner is the noble one of the two evolutions.

3Roy: Quaxly
In each saga of the Pokemon anime, the main cast would acquire the three starter Pokemon to display them to the audience. Pokemon Journeys slightly changed this by having Goh obtain all three, leaving none for Ash.

Pokemon Horizons will likely continue this, and while both Liko and Roy have one of the Paldea starters, that doesn’t mean they can’t have another. This is where Roy comes in, capturing Quaxly and having it act as a mascot for his team while Fuecoco evolves, and becomes Roy’s primary partner.
2Liko: Terapagos
As shown in Pokemon Horizons, Liko’s pendant holds a secret: it appears to house a Pokemon with connections to Terapagos. Given the Pokemon has already assisted Liko once by defending her against Amethio’s Ceruledge, Liko may form a bond with this creature and train it.
The anime is no stranger to granting our protagonist legendary Pokemon, as Ash caught a couple during the Sun and Moon saga of the anime. Liko could continue this and have the legendary turtle Pokemon join her team.

1Roy: Roaring Moon
The paradox Pokemon are some of the strongest Pokemon Paldea has to offer. Among the ones introduced in Pokemon Scarlet was Roaring Moon. Said to be an ancient Salamance, there is a non-zero chance that the paradox Pokemon will appear in Pokemon Horizons.
Roaring Moon could fit nicely onto Roy’s team, joining him in the modern day and doing battle by his side as a powerhouse. All while exploring new horizons.
