I Took Actual Magic Mushrooms And Saw The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Three points right up top. One, I took mushrooms and a good amount of edibles before seeingThe Super Mario Bros. Movie. Two, I don’t own a car and did not drive myself there nor back. Three, I saw The Super Mario Bros. Movie late at night in a screening that, as far as I could tell, didn’t have any kids. I’m a dummy, not an idiot. Oh, and I guess, four, I’m not suggesting anyone do what I did....

Is The DualSense Edge Worth It?

Quick Links Sometimes, you want a more in-depth experience than what a console’s bundled controller can offer you. No One Can Get Over Gollum's Terrible UI

Gollum, Gollum… Gollum. It’s finally out, but like his precious ring, maybe it should’ve stayed in the cave. It’s alreadythe lowest-rated game of the year, helped by our own Features Editor Ben Sledge who scored it 1.5 stars, simply stating that it"is not a good game". Those words ring true as nobody can get over its barebones UI. The initial trailer from the “pre-alpha state” showed Gollum overwhelmed by stylised options fluttering across the screen....

PAX East 2023: Aliens: Dark Descent Preview

I was not enthusiastic about Aliens: Dark Descent when it was revealed at Summer Games Fest last year. The cinematic trailer nailed the tone and atmosphere of the Aliens universe, but the snippets of RTS gameplay shown weren’t at all what I was expecting. Aliens needs a certain paranoid, claustrophobic tension to work, and I just couldn’t see how that could ever work in an RTS. After going hands-on with it at PAX East this week, I’m a lot more sold on the top-down perspective, but I’m less sure I know what kind of game Dark Descent actually is....

Root Of Nightmares Is The Destiny 2: Lightfall Raid We All Expected

Root of Nightmares is here, and the reception has been generally positive among the Destiny 2 community. It takes place on an exciting location, The Witness’ ship, which took a blast from the Traveler’s eye beam at the start of Lightfall and is now filled with wild, Tree of Silver Wings-style growths. It’s stunning to look at, as all Destiny 2 raids are, and the encounters are well designed and interesting....

Silent Hill 2 Remake Artist Gave Nurse Stockings As She "Exposed Skin Too Much"

One of the best things about remakes – besides the fact that you can replay a classic game with current-gen fidelity – is that the developers can change, or entirely remove, certain aspects that could have been different in retrospect. Whether it’s simply improving on certain animations and voicelines, or subtly addinggender neutral bathrooms to a spaceshipto annoy idiots, remakes give devs a second chance to do things differently. Silent Hill 2 artist Masahiro Ito didn’t pass up this opportunity....

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Has A Weird Reference To Mario Kart

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseis less than a month away from release, so it makes sense that trailers for the movie have started appearing on TV screens. Several new TV spots have shown off some brand-new footage, and it looks just as good as the others trailers we already have, as is expected. However, one of these TV trailers is drawing a little more attention than the rest, mainly due to Spider-Gwen making a cheeky little reference to one of Nintendo’s most popular titles....
