Resident Evil 4’s remake keeps one of the original game’s most minor easter eggs and shows that Leon’s back has a pretty rough time when catching Ashley in her knight armour.
The Resident Evil 4 remake might have only been out for a little more than a week, but that hasn’t stopped players from finding tons of different easter eggs and references. Some are massive, like being able toskip the village fight entirely by shooting the clocktower bell, while others are a bit more minor likeshooting the lake before Del Lago. It seems that there’s still more to find, as a player has discovered one of the original’s most minor easter eggs being included in the remake.

In the original release of Resident Evil 4, players can unlock special outfits for Leon and Ashley by completing the Separate Ways mode. Doing so unlocks the Pinstripe outfit for Leon and the Knight armour for Ashley, which makes her impossible for enemies to pick up and carry. As a cute little detail that shows off how heavy the armour is,Leon will grab his back in pain when he catches her after she drops from a ledge.
Thankfully, Capcom has gone the extra mile with Resident Evil 4’s remake and kept in most of the neat little details that everyone loved so much about the original, including Leon’s back getting absolutely wrecked if Ashley is wearing the armour. As shared by Twitter user kjr0313, if Leon catches Ashley when she’s wearing the Knight armour, a unique animation will play where he grabs his back in pain after he’s caught her.
The animation seems to be a little bit easier to miss this time around, as you need to verify that you don’t move after catching Ashley, otherwise Leon won’t grab his back. So, if you’re looking to remind Leon of the inevitable passing of time, make sure to stand still to see the easter egg in action.
