Cyberpunk 2077is an action RPG from CD Projekt RED, aka the creators of The Witcher 3. It puts you into the shoes of a mercenary named V, who is trying to make his stamp in the technologically advanced Night City. Yet, merely surviving the place is hard enough because it’s filled with dangerous people.

The premise is interesting, but the legacy of Cyberpunk 2077 has been severely impacted by the number of bugs it had upon launch. In fact, it was essentially the poster child for broken games. However, since then, there have been several major patches that have really improved the experience. So, is it now worth buying and playing? Here is some information that will help you answer that question.

Review

Here at TheGamer,Kirk McKeand did the review for Cyberpunk 2077when it was first released in 2020. As you’d expect, he had some gripes about the technical difficulties that were present when the game initially launched, saying, “like with most games that are this complex, Cyberpunk 2077 has its fair share of bugs.” In fairness, a lot of the issues Kirk mentioned have been fixed with patches. And he was positive about the game overall.

Whether you’re speeding through the Badlands in a rattler (the driving feels responsive and bouncy) or strolling through Night City in the rain (very good rain), it feels like the kind of world only Rockstar has managed to perfect before now.

He reserved plenty of praise for the visuals, calling the game “astoundingly pretty” and giving the title credit for how detailed its environments and character models are. Also, Kirk clearly believes there is some substance to go with that style. After all, he compliments things like the level design, writing, and characters, too.

Time Expenditure

Cyberpunk 2077 is a fairly long adventure. The main story alone willtake you around 24 hours to beat. And that’s only if you ignore all the optional content the game has to offer, which is a lot.

A 100 percent completion run will take you a lot longer. To be more specific, it’ll take you about 103 hours to complete everything. This is because there is much to do in the game, from completing side gigs to finding all the collectibles.

What Players Are Saying

Gaming’s Greatest Comeback Story - Ben Jessey

The multitude of bugs and technical problems Cyberpunk had when it initially launched hid the fact that there was a great RPG in there. Now that many of the problems have been resolved, Cyberpunk 2077 is able to show that greatness. After all, this is a title that provides a very compelling story with engaging characters and meaningful choices. Plus, it’s set in a beautiful and well-designed world, which also serves as an enjoyable battleground for the fun combat sections. While it’s still not quite The Witcher 3 or Mass Effect, it’s a wonderful game.

A Solid RPG, Now That It’s Polished - Branden Lizardi

There’s no denying the game’s rough launch. But now that time has passed and many of those issues and rough edges have been polished out, there’s a very solid sci-fi RPG underneath. There’s a lot of variety to how you build your character and use your skills to tackle the challenges around Night City. The plot is interesting, the graphics are appealing, and the gameplay is fun. If you’re interested, it’s worth a try.

A Delight To Pick Up On Sale - Sachi Go

Cyberpunk 2077 is a far cry from the disappointment it was in the beginning. It’s easy to pour hours into this game because the story is compelling, the gameplay is engaging, and the world is genuinely worth exploring for the aesthetic alone. That said, the amount of content available and the lasting collection of bugs don’t justify its full price. With at least 40 percent off? Definitely worth nabbing.
