Of the numerous NPC-driven quests available inElden Ring, few are so easy to fall into - and fewer still suffer so tragic a consequence - as Hyetta’s story. You’ll be tasked with scouring all of Liurnia in search of Hyetta and the grotesque boons she asks of you. While, Hyetta’s quest is necessary to achieve one of the many endings to your adventure, its horrific ending cost begs of you a moment to consider: what lengths are you willing to go to for the sake of an achievement?

Getting Started: Irina’s Letter

Starting Hyetta’s story requiresinitiatingIrina’s questlinein theWeeping Peninsula. You’ll need to travel southward and find the lady Irina standing beside the main road just after passing the heavily guarded bridge. Speak with her andacquire her letter. Afterward, you may choose either to deliver that letter to Castle Morne or ignore the quest entirely and venture back northward into Limgrave, storming the castle and defeating Godrick.

If you are attempting to earn the Lord of Blood’s favor by killing Irina, you may still receive her letter, but if you have not already started Hyetta’s quest by the time you kill Irina, you will automatically fail Hyetta’s quest.

Hyetta Elden Ring

Some playershave hadissues and bugswith Hyetta spawning at the Lake-Facing Cliffs. Although previous patchnotes (1.04) have insisted that this has been fixed, the error does keep showing up occasionally according to several Reddit threads and in personal experience. This seems to sometimes befixed by players who complete the whole of Castle Morne’s questline first.

Additionally, if you are trying to start this quest later in your playthrough, but can’t find Hyetta here, verify youcheckwhether you have the “As You Wish” emote as you may have already spoken to Hyetta and don’t remember. If you have it, carry on to the next step.

Third Shabriri Grape: Killing Edgar

To get your third and final Shabriri Grape, you’ll need tokill Irina’s father, Edgar. While it is possible to kill Edgar before going to his spawn location at the Revenger’s Shack in West Liurnia, taking that path is prone to severalquest-breaking bugs. The most common bug when it comes to killing Edgar early is that the third Shabriri Grape doesn’t drop with him (although sometimes fast traveling away and then returning can leave the Shabriri Grape where you killed him, this is not 100 percent effective).

To guarantee there are no issues with your questline, you’ll want tocomplete the Castle Morne- including up until Edgar finds Irina’s body, and you exhaust his dialogue. Travel toWest Liurniaand find theRevenger’s Shack. Here, Edgar will invade you.Defeat himto claim his weapon and receive yourthird Shabriri Grape.

Fourth Grape: Vyke’s Fingerprint Grape

The final grape for Hyetta’s quest is very special. It requires the eyes of someone who has been previously touched by the Frenzied Flame. to acquire this grape, you’ll need to find and defeat an invader by the name ofFestering Fingerprint Vyke. He can be found in theChurch of Inhibitionin the northeastern region of Liurnia. Defeat him to acquire hisFingerprint Grape, a Furlcalling Finger Remedy, and his unique weapon, Vyke’s War Spear. Nearby, you may also take the deceased Finger Maiden’s clothing and even use her blood to fulfill Varre’s quest.

Proceed with caution against Vyke as he is able to inflictMadness. A winning strategy here is toplay aggressively, not giving him the time necessary to charge his attacks (which all have a very obvious wind-up). He does have one healing flask, so keeping close and expertly dodging his spear attacks will be necessary in keeping this fight as short and painless as possible.

Bodies Of Deceased Merchants Killed By Frenzied Flame Madness

Secret Beneath Leyndell

To finish Hyetta’s questline, you will need to venture into the complex sewers of theSubterranean Shunning Grounds. This can be done before or after the Cardinal Sin, so there’s no need to fear being locked from this questline as with so many others. Exploring down here is not an easy task, and it requires you todefeatMohg, the Omen. He’s essentially a lesser version of Mohg, Lord of Blood, and he’s not too much of a challenge. Once defeated, you’ll seea chestwaiting for you at an altar, but it holds a far more sinister secret behind it.

After opening the chest, strike the altar behind it to reveal a secret passage. Entering this passage will give you access to theCathedral of the Forsaken’s larger area. Down here are the bodies of the merchants once afflicted with the Frenzied Flame. Be warned that there are one or two that will attack you, but you’re able to ignore those playing or sitting on the sidelines as they are passive and will not seek to attack you.

Mohg the Omen’s Chest And Secret Wall Behind It

Venture down the corridors to reach Elden Ring’s most difficult boss:Platforming. Continuing will require you to complete a series of difficult jumps between stone platforms on the way down. Descending may take multiple tries, so it is not recommended to attempt this section if you’re attached to your runes.

If you’re skilled with using weapon arts, you may gimp some areas of this platforming puzzle by using Waterfowl Dance (Hand of Malenia) or Angel Wings (Winged Scythe).

Three Fingers Grabbing Player And Then Touching Hyetta With Flame

Once down below, you’ll find Hyetta standing nearby. She will tell you todivest yourself of all your clothesandventure into the door behind her.Do so, unequipping your armor (though you don’t need to unequip your weapons), and interact with the door. Inside, you will meet with theThree Fingers.

After being burnt in the cutscene that plays, you mayreturn to Hyettaand speak with her. She will ask you tobless her with the Flame. Doing so will allow Hyetta to interpret the words of the Three Fingers before being burnt alive on the spot. After she dies, you will be rewarded with aFrenzied Flame Sealandfive Frenzy Flame Stones, thus ending Hyetta and her questline entirely. If you choose to return to this location afterward, Hyetta will be gone and replaced with a pile of smoldering ashes.

Frenzied Flame Ending

Once Hyetta’s quest is finished, you may continue to play through the rest of Elden Ring. Your consequence for undertaking this journey will be revealed after youspeak with Melinaanddefeat final two bosses. Sitting at a Site of Grace after completing Hyetta’s story will result inMelina abandoning you, stating that you are no longer fit for the role intended for you (additionally, she will speak to you at the Frenzied Flame Proscription Site of Grace begging you not to inherit the flame).

You willno longer be able to commit the Cardinal Sinwith Melina once you undertake this quest.

You will then need to march on tocomplete the remainder of the game.Only one option will be available to you at such a point, and you’ll be given a cutscene where you become theLord of Chaosand burn everything- the Erdtree, The Lands Between, and anything associated with them -to the ground. There will also be anadditional scenewhere Melina vows to give you your Destined Death.

If you have already committed the Cardinal Sin before finishing Hyetta’s quest, then there is no interaction with Melina before, after, or during the ending cutscene.

Undoing Hyetta’s Questline

If you want to complete Hyetta’s questline but don’t want the Frenzied Flame Ending or have done so not intending the consequences, there is a method toundo the touch of the Frenzied Flameand relieve you of theforced ending. However, doing so is a monumental and convoluted task that requires you to undertake some of the hardest challenges The Lands Between has to offer.

In order to do this, you will need tofinish the entirety ofMillicent’s questlineand reach the conclusion that offers theperfected Miquella’s Needle. This entire process includes:

Needless to say, undoing Hyetta’s questline is a several-hour endeavor. In general, consider either stop with Hyetta’s questline before reaching its conclusion, or undertaking it only after you have completed Millicent’s and perfected the needle. However, your journey doesn’t end there.

to use the needle, you must alsotravel to Crumbling Farum Azulawhere you will need to findDragonlord Placidusaxin his arena lost in time anddefeat him. Afterward, you canonly use the needle standing within this arenaand nowhere else. Granted, you may try to use the needle while entering the arena, but it’s not recommended to juggle using the needle while dodging Placidusax.

Once the needle is used, you will not be able to re-afflict yourself with the Frenzied Flame, as the Three Fingers will be missing from their sanctum if you return, and the needle will be consumed and removed from your inventory.
