Starting Practicum In Advanced Alchemy

While there ismore than one wayto star this quest, all roads lead to the druids' headquarters atGedyneithwhere you will talk toGremist, sitting outside his cave not far from the Fast Travel point.

You will overhear another druid urging Gremist tofind an apprenticeto teach before he takes his vast knowledge of alchemy to the grave. You can complete these trials in any order.

Finding Pimpernel Petals

According to Gremist, pimpernel grows ina forest to the south of Druid’s Camp, where you will begin searching.

Use your Witcher Senses within the search area, using it tohighlight a pair of bald pimpernel plants. It would appear that someone else had already plucked the petals off. Before Geralt steps away, another druid will appear, searching for a missing trainee sent on the same task.

Geralt listens to an old coot complain about the world as they stand outside his cave.

The druid tells Geralt that Gremist has frequently sent young druids to pick pimpernel. All of them hadreturned empty-handed.This druid has had enough and asks for Geralt’s help in putting a stop to whatever is responsible.

Once again, use Witcher Sensesto find a set of bipedal footprints leading away from the site. It will lead you intoa pack of wolvesandanother picked pimpernel. The tracks diverge in two directions.

Geralt kneels down as he inspects a plant while another druid talks to him in a forest in Skellige.

North

Following this set of tracks has you crossing paths withan armored arachasanda body buried under rocks.

South

This pathbrings you to the monster responsible,a succubus, and the missing druid.

The succubus tells the pair that shehas not murdered anyone in angerand had been sending the trainees away after draining them. If youhad found the body, she claims thatthe victim had consenteddespite her warnings.

Geralt’s Witcher Senses highlight a set of hoofprints leading to a monster.

You will have todecide if she should be spared. This choicewill not affect the quest’s outcome.

Looking at the situation as a game and disregarding the narrative aspect of the decision, killing the succubus will get youa Succubus Mutagen. This item is needed to create theSuccubus Decoction, which increases Geralt’s attack power as a fight drags on.

Geralt stands in the middle of the forest by a dead plant with two sets of tracks leading away from each other.

This is a chance to get one if you spared the succubus inContract: Deadly Desires.

The pimpernel isin the succubus' cave, which you will search after making a decision on the monster. Head inside andtake a handful of petalsto complete this stage of the quest.

Getting The Skellige Spirit

One of Gremist’s demands will have Geralt go into the mountainsnot far from the succubus' cave. The long-abandoned distillery there had once made some of the best spirits in the region. Geralt will have to somehow create a fresh bottle for the old man.

The cause for the distillery’s collapse becomes apparent once you get inside.A cyclops has made its home inside. You will have to kill it before continuing.

After you have made the facility safe, go into the small shackat the south end of the cave, near the entrance. Look for aset of instructionsleft by the former manager inside. It outlines the three steps needed to distill a bottle.

The first step is tofind mash, the raw material that will be processed into the drink. It ison the scaffoldingto the left of the distillery’s equipment. Climb up and loot the bottle for it.

He willsacrifice a goat, starting the ritual. Foglets will attempt to disrupt it, attacking in pairs. You will need to stopthree groups of fogletsbefore the ritual comes to an end. They tend to ignore the druid, making this quest much easier.

Fritjof will uphold his end of the bargain and visit Gremist after his work is complete.

Becoming Gremist’s Apprentice
