One of the most important aspects ofPeridotis breeding your dot with others to obtain dots with new genetic traits. You start with a small selection of traits available based on the first egg you hatch. Other traits can only be inherited through breeding once you have unlocked them in your Keeper’s Journey.

The traits you unlock through your first egg can be particularly good traits you wouldn’t normally unlock until a much higher level, so you might find yourself particularly lucky!

What Are Traits?
Traits are features that your dot possesses split into different categories:
Each category has a range of traits your dot could have. It might have Bear ears, or perhaps Bat ears, its face could be Monkey-shaped, Fang-shaped, or even Octopus-shaped! When you breed your dot with another, the offspring has an equal chance to inherit a trait from either parent.
Not all traits are available at the start of the game, and choosing to Hatch-a-Dot with a dot that has locked traits means your baby dot cannot inherit those traits.
How Do I Unlock More Traits?
You’ll unlock more traits as you level up through your Keeper’s Journey.
If you Hatch-a-Dot with a dot with lots of locked traits, you may choose to pay out a Nest and Gemstones to Hatch-a-Dot with all the traits unlocked — but thisonly counts for this particular Hatch-a-Dot.
If you don’t inherit the traits you unlocked from this encounter, they will remain locked to you until you unlock them another way.
If you do inherit any traits from this encounter, they will become unlocked to you because one of owned dots will possess them.
Rewards
Fetch- Able to play Fetch with your dots and can find toys through foraging.
Outfits- Can dress up your dots in different clothing items.
Hatch-a-Dot- Can breed new dots with other dots, providing you have a Nest, enough Sundrops, and your dot is an adult.
