Riptide is one such Hero, focusing on playing traps to damage your opponent. Riptide is notable due to his Ability to respond to his opponent’s attacks while giving him the power to deal damage. This Hero offers a unique playstyle about finding the right time to strike your opponent and claim victory.
Riptide Gameplan
Riptide’s game plan is simple:take full advantage of his Abilities and strike your opponent with calculated attacks from your Arsenal.
Riptide plays from Arsenal, and his first Ability is that, when he plays a card from hand, he can set a card in the Arsenal. This means you canset Traps and Arrows cards even on the opponent’s turn, as long as you play a card.

With Riptide’s second Ability,Traps do one damage when activated, which may not seem like much, butRiptide can set many traps.
The main goal of a Trap is to make your opponent spend resources or stop their momentum.Having the right traps in your Arsenal can pressure your opponent and slow their game plan.

Usually, Arrows are required to be set in the Arsenal to play, which means they will be used in the next turn.
However, with Riptide’s Hero Ability, he can set an Arrow Card in his Arsenal and play it on the same turn. This allows Riptide to set up some devastating combos with a small hand.

Description
Barbed Castaway
This weapon allows you tospend one energy to place a card in your Arsenal. It also has a second ability toput Aim Counters on your Arrow Card in your Arsenal. Aim Counters grant additional effects when an Arrow hits your opponent.
You could also usethe Bow, Death Dealer. It has almost the same effect, but instead of Aim Counters,it grants ‘Go Again.‘Both are great options.
Fyedal’s Spring Tunic
This Tunicgives you Energy once every three turns; this Equipment plays well with Riptide’s midrange style of play. The extra Energy can be crucial when you have the opportunity to a lot of damage.
Bull’s Eye Bracers
You can destroy this Equipment and Arrow Card from your hand to your Arsenal, whichgains extra damage and ‘Go Again.‘This Equipmentsupports Riptide’s gameplan of setting Arrowsto attack your opponent with.
Quiver of Abyssal Depths
The go-to Quiver option for Riptide, itseffect to recycle three Arrows from the Graveyardis needed. Without Arrows, Riptide misses out on excellent damage potential.
Other than the Equipment, having the rightArrows and Traps to build a deck for Riptide is the biggest factor when deck building. Generally, there are no wrong answers because Riptide is more reactive and waits for an opening.
To combo with Riptide’s Ability, you play cards likeLace With Blood, which boost the attack of an Arrow, place an arrow into your Arsenal, and then attack with the Arrow. This is an example of the simple combos Riptide can pull off.Riptide can be dangerous with cards that have ‘Go Again.’
Riptide also has two greatSpecialization Traps called Buzzsaw Traps and Collapsing Traps. These Specializations are significant at stopping your opponent’s momentum, butyou can only have one copy in your deck, so they must be played wisely.
Buzzsaw Trapreturns your opponent’s attack to the base damage. This is a powerfulprotection tool, that can save you from opponents setting up a powerful attack to win the game.
Collapsing Trap discards your opponent’s hand andmakes them redraw with one less card.
Riptide Strengths And Weaknesses
All of Riptide’s strengths come from his first Ability. His Ability is potent, especially in the Ranger Class, which can use Arrows and Traps.
You can use cards with ‘Go Again’ and have the opportunity touse cards set in the Arsenal on the same turn. Riptide can performgreat combos with simply two cards in hand, but you need the right cards for it to happen.
Riptide’s weakness is thathe relies heavily on his opponent’s Heroes and actions. Riptide has the option to play offensively or defensively, but that decision is based on your opponent’s actions.
You want to have suitable Traps and Arrows to pressure your opponent, andsometimes that is not always possible. Due to this,Riptide lacks a direct strategy to beat your opponent.
Variations Of Riptide
Riptide is a jack of all trades but a master of none. This idea is present in his abilities, which are rather broad. This means there are many styles of Riptide when it comes to the cards inside your deck.
Riptide cannot optimally play all Traps or all Arrows — you require agood mixture of both. Finding the right balance can depend on the opponents you are facing.
Regarding gameplay, Riptide can be played in aggro or control, but many Heroes can perform that job better.Riptide is best-played midrange, where you can respond to your opponent flexibly.
You want to be able toslow down your opponent when they are playing aggressivelyand be able to attack your opponent if they try to control the game.
