As a Killer inDead By Daylight, you have to find four different Survivors and hook them thrice to sacrifice them to the Entity. Whenever a new Killer is released to the game, you can use their unique ability in the trial. Each Killer also comes with three teachable perks that can be used on any other Killer.

The Skull Merchant was revealed during the Tools of Torment chapter release, and she’s the 31st Killer in the game. Her ability revolves around shutting down loops and giving information on some Survivors' current locations. It’s quite hard to hide from this Killer.

How Does The Skull Merchant’s Power Work

The Skull Merchant’s power is based on patrolling different areas and shutting down certain loops. You’ll start the trial with four Drones, and you’re able to place a Drone whenever you press the Power button. The device is activated after a couple of seconds and has different abilities:

If you press the Power button to place the Drone and keep moving ahead, the Drone will get placed at the point where you pressed the button, and not where it gets out of your hand. You don’t have to stay still while putting a Drone up.

If there are no Survivors in the Drone radius for a few seconds,it’ll enter a passive state where it will have two beams that will constantly move around a certain radius. If a Survivor gets detected by these beams, the Drone will enter the active state again.

When the Killer places the Drone or activates it again, it will stay out of reach for a few seconds. After that, the Drone will come lower and Survivors can enter the area and interact with the Drone to deactivate it. The Survivor will have to hit five buttons in the correct order to remove the Drone, and this will give them the Claw Trap.

You cantrack Survivors with a Claw Trap or the ones inside your Drone’s radius using the Radar by pressing the Ability button. The Claw Trap has a certain amount of battery, and you won’t be able to track Survivors if the trap loses all its battery.

You can alsouse the Radar to activate a Drone every few seconds or recall them back to yourself.

Tips To Play The Skull Merchant

It can be quite daunting to figure out how to play this Killer efficiently, and here are a few tips that can help:

Best Build For The Skull Merchant

There are plenty of perks you can choose from in Dead By Daylight.Whenever you reachprestige three with any Killer, all their perks are instantly available to all the other Killers. Though some perks give you more value when you’re playing as Adriana Imai:

Call Of Brine

This is likely the best perk you can use on this Killer. Whenever you kick a generator, it regresses at 200 percent speed with this perk, andyou’re notified whenever a Survivor hits a good skill check on that generator. This perk can be applied to multiple generators.

When you kick a generator with COB,you can place a Drone right beside it to stop Survivors from getting in the area for a few seconds. This will force the Survivor to either go to a different generator or get the Exposed effect.

Dead By Daylight Skull Merchant With Thwack Perk

Corrupt Intervention

As a Killer with no teleporting ability or ranged attack,it’s important to prevent Survivors from starting generators in the beginning. Ideally, you’d want a maximum of one finished generator when your first chase ends. Corrupt Intervention helps you achieve that by blocking three generators at the start.

Brutal Strength

Pallets are one of the main resources that a Survivor can use to extend the chase.Brutal Strength reduces the distance they can get after dropping a safe pallet because you can break it faster.

Fearmonger

Whenever a Survivor touches a generator, this perk gives them the Exhausted and Blindness status effect. These effects stay for a few seconds after they stop repairing. You wouldn’t want to see a Survivor Sprint Bursting away from you when you catch them off-guard.

Perk Synergies With Thwack!

Thwack is a simple aura-revealing perk that activates every time you hook a Survivor. While the perk is activated, kicking a breakable wall or a pallet will make the Survivors within a 32-meter radius scream and reveal their aura for four seconds. This perk can be great for making sure no Survivor is hiding near the hook.

Here are a few perks that can let you get more value from Thwack:

Dead By Daylight Skull Merchant With Leverage Perk

Lethal Pursuer

This perk lets you see all the Survivors at the start of the game, but it also extends all the aura-reading perk durations by two seconds. Essentially, you’ll be able to see the Survivors affected by Thwack for six seconds with this combination.

When you hook a Survivor, there’s hardly any reason to break a pallet or a wall nearby, and it can be a poor use of your time.Brutal Strength makes this worth it since it significantly increases the speed at which you kick these.

Dead By Daylight Skull Merchant With Game Afoot Perk

Iron Maiden

Once the Survivors know that you have this perk, they might try to hide in lockers to avoid screaming and getting their aura revealed. Iron Maiden will help you punish such Survivors by Exposing them for a long time.

Starstruck

If you’re going to use this perk to find nearby Survivors as soon as you get a hook,Starstruck will help you down them faster since it Exposes the nearby Survivors when you’re carrying a Survivor.

Perk Synergies With Leverage

Whenever you hook a Survivor while having this perk,it activates for 30 seconds and grants you a token, up to ten in total. For each token, the healing speed of all Survivors is reduced by five percent for the remaining duration. This perk might not be as significant by itself, but some combinations can make it deadly:

Dying Light

Much like Leverage,Dying Light also gets a token when you hook a Survivor other than your Obsession. This gives every Survivor three percent repair, healing, and sabotaging speed reduction for each token. This stacks with Leverage to give you an eight percent healing speed reduction for every hook.

Barbeque & Chili

If you’re planning to reduce the Survivors' healing speed for 30 seconds after every hook, you have to find the Injured Survivor as fast as possible once you finish hooking. Barbeque & Chili will help you with that since it reveals the auras of faraway Survivors when you hook someone.

Bloodhound

Since this perk revolves around finding Injured Survivors after hooking one,Bloodhound can be used for tracking the blood easily, and it will also help you when you’re chasing an Injured Survivor.

Perk Synergies With Game Afoot

Every game starts with one Survivor as your Obsession, and this can be seen by some spikes on the Obsession’s portrait on the HUD. When you’re chasing the Obsession, this perk activates and you get a five percent Haste effect for ten seconds every time you kick a pallet or a wall.

When you hit the Survivor with the longest chase with a basic attack, the Obsession is transferred to that Survivor. This perk can be quite niche, but it can be better with certain synergies:

Nemesis

It can be quite hard to transfer the Obsession with Game Afoot, especially if you’re using a Killer that doesn’t use many basic attacks. Nemesis can help this process as it transfers the Obsession to a Survivor that stuns you by any means.

Even though you get a Haste effect for ten seconds,it can be hard to catch up with a Survivor after you break a pallet at normal speed. Brutal Strength gives a lot more value to this perk since you can kick these pallets faster.

Bamboozle

To get value out of this perk, you’ll have to force people to drop pallets most of the time. You’ll generally see a pallet connected to a window, which can delay the pallet drop. Bamboozle makes things a lot easier in these situations.

Hubris

The best part about having Haste tocatch up with Survivors after getting stunned with a pallet is when you’re able to down them in one hit. Hubris will expose Survivors for 20 seconds every time they pallet stun you.
