League of LegendsHas been following a pattern when creating Champions to add to its roster; usually, it looks for champions with many utilities, many passives in their abilities, and a handful of extra perks that either increase the damage output of the Champion or decrease the damage received by the Champion, meaning they are Champions with many mechanics to learn and use.

Then, Riot made a 180-degree turn by creating Milio, a Support Champion focused on boosting his team’s DPS with his abilities while keeping them alive by protecting and healing them while having a decent peel potential. It’s easy to use, and it can be your next main if you love to go Support. Let’s take a look at Milio, The Gentle Flame.
Tips
Passive: Fired Up!
With his passive, Milio enchants both allies and his own basic attacks and abilities for four seconds. This makes their next basic attack or ability to deal 15% to 35% of their AD (depending on the ally’s or Milio’s level) of Magic Damage and leave a burn that inflicts 25 to 80 (based on Milio’s Level) plus 20% of his AP of Magic Damage over 1.5 seconds.
To apply Fired Up!On your teammates, you’ll have touse your W on them.

This Passive ignores any shield if the effect was applied through a basic attack, so you’re able to always try to hit a first basic attack to apply the burn and then use your Q to continue attacking your enemies. It’s a great idea to poke the opposite ADC and Support with your basic attacks constantly, as you’ll tear them out and send them out of the lane easily.
Also, this effect stacks up on the enemy,so, if you and your ADC land a hit on a target, it’ll receive double the damage from the burn, up to five, which is the number of Champions that can receive the Fired Up! Passive from Milio.

Q: Ultra Mega Fire Kick
Milio charges for 0.25 seconds, then kicks a fireball toward a target. If it lands on an enemy (it can be a Champion, a Minion, or a Jungle Monster), the enemy will get knocked back and stunned for a second. After that, the fireball will bounce forward, in the same direction where you aimed it. As it lands, it’ll explode in a radius, dealing 90 to 270 (depending on the ability’s level) plus 90% AP of Magic Damage and applying a slow of 40 to 60% plus 5% per 100 AP Milio has.
It costs 50 to 70 Mana and has a cooldown time of 12 seconds.

The Fireball will reveal everything on its pathand upon hitting an objective, which is great to use on bushes or blind points. Also, the fireball can clip through the walls.
This ability has plenty of uses;you can use it to start a teamfightbecause of the stun and the damage on an area it deals,or you can disengage yourselffrom a battle or a pursuitas it knocks back.

Even though the hitbox of the fireball is pretty large,it moves fairly slowly,so it’s recommended toaim and track the path your target is followingto land the fireball successfully.
you’re able to use this ability to poke in lane phasesas if you hit a minion with the fireball the explosion area will be considerably wider. Another great function of this fireball is to prevent yourself and your ADC from getting ganked simply because of the knockback it has.
Try to be precise when using this ability; it has a considerably long cooldown, so the usual scenario is that you’ll use it up to two times in a battle.
W: Cozy Campfire
Milio throws a fuemigo (one of his little fire friends) at a targeted location or upon an ally for 6 seconds. The little fuemigo will chase the nearest ally champion (it can also be you).
Every champion that is inside the area of the fuemigo will see its base attack range increased from 10 to 20% and will get healed from 2.8 to 6 plus 0.6% of Milio’s AP (based on this ability’s level). you may recast this ability to send the fuemigo to chase an ally champion, but you have to target it first.
This ability costs 90 to 130 Mana and has a cooldown time of 29 to 21 seconds, depending on this ability’s level.
This ability will greatly help ADCs in battlesas they will get constantly healed and will see their basic attack range greatly increased. Those ADCs with shorter basic attack ranges will receive the last push they need to succeed in a match. Knowing this, try to aim your Cozy Campfire at your ADC.
The only drawback of this ability is thatit follows the ally champion very slowly. That’s whyit’s important to recast it, as you can quickly send it to where you need it. It can be you, or it can be your ADC.
Reserve this ability for the latest moments of a teamfight; you and your teammates will have a great advantage thanks to this ability.
E: Warm Hugs
Milio covers himself or an ally champion on flames, giving them a shield of 60 to 140 plus 25% of Milio’s AP and a bonus Movement Speed of 15 to 25% (Depending on this ability’s level) for 2.5 seconds.
This ability stacks up two charges, and its effects can stack up too.
This ability costs 50 to 90 Mana, and every charge has a cooldown time of 18 to 14 seconds, depending on this ability’s level.
This ability stacks up on the target, yet it doesn’t mean it’ll make a target run faster if you use it two consecutive times on a single target.
This ability is excellent to use during team fights, yet it’s recommended to use one of your stacks on an ally and the other one on you; you are the shield setter, so you also have to be protected from the damage.
If your enemies are running away very fast, use this ability before chasing them. It’ll make a difference.
Lastly, try always to aim for your weakest teammate; the tankiest ones can handle a bit more damage than your ADC.
R: Breath Of Life
Milio explodes in flames on an area, healing himself and the ally champions inside the area in 150 to 350 plus +30% of Milio’s AP (depending on this ability’s level).
All the ally champions inside the area will also get a cleanse that will remove any CC that isn’t airborne (so you may remove stuns, slows, and much more, but you can’t remove knockbacks), and will also give them 65% of Tenacity for 3 seconds.
This ability costs 100 Mana and has a cooldown time of 160 to 130 seconds, depending on this ability’s level.
You’ll have to be attentive to what’s happening during team fights,so you can use this ability properly. Sometimes,it’ll be better to just heal your teammates, but there will also be moments when a champion will stun all (or most, or the most important) your teammates; that’s when you have to use it.
It’s recommended to take a look at your enemy’s team;try torecognize all the champions that can apply CCand always take them into account when they join the teamfight. This ult can be a great tool to disengage your team from a teamfight or to completely disable the opposite team’s strategy.
Be aware thatthe cleanse of this ability doesn’t affect Milio,so you may’t remove the CC from you. So, always try to have a good positioning in the team fights if you don’t want to get engaged and eliminated quickly and leave your team vulnerable to CC.
On the other hand, the Tenacity this ability gives can help champions that engage in a teamfightby completely entering inside the opposite team, such as Sett, Mordekaiser, Skarner, and much more. A good option can be using this ability to start a teamfight, but this will depend on the composition of the opposite team; if they don’t have heavy-CC threats, you can do this.
The ideal level progression for Milio’s abilities is E, then W, and lastly, Q.
You’ll need to get the best shields in the shortest amount of time.
Summoner Spells
Milio can adapt to any Summoner Spell you want to attach to him because of his moveset, which is full of utilities. So,choosing your Spells will be more of a choice you have to makedepending on what your ADC will use in the match and your play style. Below is a list of considerations you have to make before choosing your ideal Spells.
When to Use it
Flash
Flash is a must-have.Every champion in the game, except for some high-mobility-based Champs, depends on having Flash to avoid getting engaged in team fights or to give the coup-de-grace to your opponent. Milio isn’t the exception to this rule so always use Flash.
Heal
It’s recommended to take Heal if your ADC uses Ignite, as both your ADC and you will need some extra sustain in the battle.
Ignite
If you are facing a heal-based Support(such as Soraka)you should always go with Ignite. The burnings of the Ignite cut all the healings received by half.
Exhaust
Exhaust is a mustif you are facing an ADC with high mobilityor if the opposite team’s ADC deals a lot of damage but doesn’t do True Damage, as the Exhaust reduces the damage dealt by the target.
Cleanse
Your team depends on you being always able to help them get out of sketchy situations, hence whyit’s a good idea to use Cleanse if the opposite team has heavy-CC threats.
If you are going to play with Ignite, be sure you use it when the target is about to die. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting it.
How To Play Milio
Early Game
For the early game, you should always stick to your ADC.Milio isn’t a tanky support, so you can’t roam through the other lines as much as you can with other Champs like Leona and Nautilus, soit’s a bad idea to leave your ADC’s side.
Level your E first so that you can shield your ADC as soon as possible; it’ll give your ADC the chance to trade damage with the opponent’s ADC while being sure they won’t die. Again, Milio isn’t a tanky Champion, so try to avoid getting hit as much as possible.
If you get ganked, use your Q to knock the opposite jungler backand give you enough time to run away or position yourself in a better place to fight.
Lastly, remember to use your R whenever you see your ADC getting CCd.Remember you can boost your ADC’s Movement Speed with your E.
Mid-Game
Here’s the moment when your ADC might want to visit other lanes. If they do, you can do it too.Your objective in this match is to get your ADC very powerful in the shortest time possible, so if you can prevent them from getting killed, you are doing it greatly.
Late Game
Here’s whenyou can leave your ADC but only when you are sure your ADC isn’t vulnerable.Milio can’t do anything if it’s alone, so never forget to be with a Champion you know you’ll help a lot.
The Best Runes For Milio
Keystone
Summon Aery:The ideal Keystone for Milio has to be Summon Aery. With Summon Aery, every time you hit an enemy with a basic attack, an ability, or an effect from an item, Aery will deal them damage based on your AD and AP.
Meanwhile, if you heal or shield an ally, Aery will step on them, giving an extra shield that is also based on the amount of AD and AP you have. Milio is a shield-based Support, so Aery will reinforce his shields.
Primary Runes
Manaflow Band:The Manaflow Band will give you extra Mana, which is pretty useful for Milio as the costs of its abilities are pretty high, and his base Mana is rather low.
Transcendence:Thanks to this rune, the cooldown time of your abilities will get drastically reduced, which is great because you’re able to shield and heal your teammates constantly.
Scorch:Every time you deal damage with Milio’s Q, your target will be set on fire, so you’ll deal extra Magic Damage.
Secondary Runes
Bone Plating: Thanks to Bone Plating, you’ll be able to receive less damage from your opponents. It’s ideal to use it as a Support as you’ll have the chance to be with your ADC for a longer time.
Revitalize:Revitalize will increase the power of your shields, so it synergizes well with Summon Aery. Also, all the heals and shields you apply to allies below 40% of their maximum HP will receive extra heal or shield.
Stat Boosts
you may alternatively opt to change Transcendence for Celerity if you want to increase the Movement Speed you give to your allies and yourself. Milio is very slow, so it’s not a bad option.
Alternatively, you can change the Ionian Boots of Lucidity for Mercury’s Treads if you are suffering against a high-damage AP Champ.
The same goes for the Plated Steelcaps, but in case the opposite team has a problematic AD Champ bursting you.
