Cauldron THETA is an optional quest inHorizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. Its use is limited, since overriding Bileguts isn’t a particularly valuable ability, but it’s a good way to grind out some extra experience; plus you get a Legendary Weave at the end of it, which is arguably a better prize than the Override!

How To Get Solve The Crate Puzzle In Cauldron THETA

The Burning Shores’ Cauldron is near the center-east edge of the map, north of Pangea Park, but themain entrance is blocked. It’s also guarded by a Fireclaw, so use caution when approaching!

To enter the Cauldron, follow the lavauphill from the entrance. You’ll see a gap in the volcano wall that you can use to get inside. Once you do,glide across to the main platformand override the door to reach the main facility.

Beyond the door, watch the hover drones. As they reach the lava, they’ll drop Chillwater canisters, creating an updraft. Use this to glide high enough to reach the platform across the lava. You’ll come to alarge chamber patrolled by Leaplashers.

Some of the cooled lava on the floor is still glowing, but don’t worry - unlike real life, you can safely walk on it.

To reach the upper levels, shoot the drones aboveto make them drop their Chillwater canisters. If one lands on the cooled lava, you can use the updraft to float to the second floor.

Float to the door leading to the next room; you need tohold down a floor panelto keep it open. Walk to the left andoverride the network nodeto create a bridge. Work your way back down to ground level, creating bridges as you go.

When you reach the raised platform at the bottom, use a Chillwater draftto float across to the ledge with the final network node and aShellwalker Crate.Use the bridges you’ve created todrag the crate to the topand hold down the panel.

You’ll be attacked by machines while moving the crate - if you fall during the fight, just use another updraft to return.

How To Get Past The Energy Barrier In Cauldron THETA

Follow the corridor beyond the door. When you come to a lava flow, use the Pullcaster to grapple acrossfor an optional chest, then return andwalk along the edge.

Zipline down the cable to the lower level, thencarefully walk onto the debris in the lava. From there, you can grapple to the floating platform above.

Standing on the edge of the platform will cause it to fly in the associated direction. Check to the right for a hidden corridor with a supply cache, then go to the energy shield blocking the way to the core chamber.

To the left of the shield is a section of wall that you can climb. Get to the first platform, thenlook on the left-hand sidefor some cylindrical handholds to continue.

At the top, platforms will float by periodically.Glide to one and run across it toleap to the ledge on the far side.If you fall or the platform moves too far, glide back to your platformand use the Pullcaster to grapple it, then start again.

Go through the tunnel on the ledge to find a roomfilled with cooled lava.Watch the ceiling for a Chillwater Drone, thenshoot its canisterto create an updraft to reach the upper level. From there, grapple across to the top floorand override the door to the right.

Equip a Hunter Bow or War Bow with Shock Arrows, and proceed. A swarm of Stingspawn will start hatching from the eggs in the next room; use the Shock Arrows to cause them to explode, taking multiple bugs out with one shot.

Follow the path to the right, and you’ll come to a door override guarded by a large cluster of Stingspawn eggs. You can eitherdestroy the eggs with an explosive shot, or wait for the first bug to hatch then overload it with a Shock Arrow; the explosion should destroy most of the remaining eggs.

At the end of the corridor past the door, rappel downto the lower level, thenglide off the ledgeto find another override node. It will shut down the shield and conveniently open a path for you to return to the room with the floating platforms.

How To Get The Bilegut Override

Return to your platform and guide it into the core chamber. At the end of the lava, you’ll have to dismount and continue on foot. Glide through the triangular opening ahead andoverride the corewhen you land to trigger the boss fight against theApex Bilegut.

The Apex Bilegut is fast, and uses fire attacks instead of acid. It’s alsoweak against Plasma and Purgewater. Like a normal Bilegut fight, start by detonating the fuel sac on its abdomen. This will set it on fire, dealing a bunch of damage before the flames are extinguished. The Egg Launchers on its sides are both easy targets for extra damage as well.

When the Bilegut is defeated, loot it for a powerful Weave, thenfinish overriding the core. You’ll gain the ability tooverride Bileguts in the wild, and automatically be taken back to the surface. Unlike the Overrides in the Forbidden West, youdon’t need to craft anything at the Baseand can instead use the Override right away.
