What Is The Orchestrion?

The Orchestrion is a device that allows you to play music. Orchestrions can be found inInn roomsin major cities, like Limsa Lominsa or the Crystarium. Additionally, you can purchase apersonal Orchestrion furniture itemthat you can place in your house, apartment, or free company room.

Orchestrions play music based onOrchestrion Rollsthat you put into it. These are obtained through a variety of ways, which we’ll look at below. Essentially, an Orchestrion Roll contains a track of music from somewhere in the game, be it the battle music of a certain trial, or the song that plays as you explore Thanalan.

What Are Faded Copies Of Orchestrion Rolls Used For?

When clearing dungeons or completing quests, you may receive aFaded Copy of an Orchestrion Roll. If you go to pop this roll into your music box, you’ll find that you are unable to. This is because Faded Copies are essentiallyunrestored versions of the Roll, meaning they have to first be restored before they can be used normally.

Restoring Faded Copies is done by Alchemists, using a few different materials and the Faded Copy itself. You’ll need to get the correspondingMaster Recipes bookfirst, then procure aBlank Orchestrion Roll and Ink, the type of which is specific to the Roll you are restoring. Of course, you’ll need a fewelemental crystalsto complete the craft as well.
