Soul Transposition, Explained
In Dark Souls 3, the only way to get any boss weapons is through thetransposition of their souls.Ludleth of Courland, sitting on his throne in Firelink Shrine, will assist with this.
This Lord of Cinder will transpose your boss souls intoboss weapons, spells, and shields. Each boss soul can produce different items, butyou can only choose one of the items, so choose wisely.

Ludleth can only transpose souls once you have gifted him theTransposing Kiln, a reward fordefeating the Curse-Rotted Greatwood. He will be able to transpose the souls of any bosses you give to him intopowerful items that you won’t want to miss out on.
How To Get Boss Souls
Getting boss souls is the hard part of the bargain.A boss' soul is only rewarded once you have defeated that boss, along with any other reward they provide. These boss souls can becashed in for souls or can be transposed into powerful items.
The first boss, Iudex Gundyr, does not drop a boss soul. This is believed to be because his soul was already claimed by you in the future past, when you go back in time to defeat Champion Gundyr.

You only get one of these souls per boss, so what you decide to do with it must be well-considered.
