The witcher may find a contract at Oxenfurt complaining about a troll singing so badly that it is subjecting the nearby listeners to torture. As always, Geralt will have to bring the situation to as peaceful a conclusion as he can manage. If you are wondering how to handle this dilemma, this guide will help you deal with the troll.

Noise Complaint

There are two ways to start The Volunteer. Thenotice board at Oxenfurt has a contract prepared for the troll.Reading the contract will start the quest. Alternatively, the quest may start if youride close to the island.Geralt’s superhumanly sharp senses will pick up the atonal warbling with ease.

You will need toreach the islandand talk to the troll to continue.

You canget a boatfrom theWestern Gatefast travel point at Oxenfurt to get across easily.

The troll introduces himself as Trollololo, named after a timeless masterpiece. He was recently recruited into the Redanian Army and was tasked with securing boats. The same boats that now form a fence.

Geralt and a troll admire the latter’s artistic talent, having painted the Redanian Eagle on the remains of a boat.

Trollololo explains to Geralt that all the other Redanians had been killed when he attempted to stop them from fighting locals. He then proceeded to eat the dead.

Deciding If The Volunteer Should Die

It now falls to Geralt to decide if Trollololo must die for killing the humans. It appears that Trollololo’s good intentions paved the way to the afterlife for the surrounding humans.He did not act out of malice,though he ultimately killed.

Spare Trollololo.

If Geralt spares Trollololo, the troll will ask the witcher for help.

Geralt will battle the troll and slay him.

Killing The Troll

If you decide to slay Trollololo, be prepared tofight defensively.His armored backrepels hits from Geralt’s swords,forcing frontal attacks that leave you vulnerable toheavy strikes from Trollololo’s arms.

As an Ogroid, Trollololo isvulnerable to Ogroid Oil.You can harvest aCave troll liverfrom him, which is used to create upgraded versions of Ogroid Oil.

A wise strategy would be todash in for one or two Fast Attacksanddodge outbefore Trollololo hits back, repeating until victorious. This strategy may not be as brave or exciting as the others. However, it will allow you to survive.

Thequest will end after Trollololo is slain.

Carrying Out Trollololo’s Orders

If you choose to let Trollololo live, he will conscript Geralt into the Redanian Army and order the witcher toprocure paint for the Redanian insignia.

The paint can be found back at Oxenfurt, sold by a merchant at thenorth end of Oxenfurt.Purchase it andbring it back to Trollololofor your next task; painting the insignia. You can choose tofollow orders and paintorleave the honors toTrollololo.Truly, you must choose between two evils.

Trollololo is a reasonable commander andwill not penalize Geralt for refusing to paint.
