The multiplayer FPSOverwatch 2is filled with a massive roster of heroes to play from. With each hero, there are unique attacks, abilities, and ultimates that make for a lot of different fights. A specific hero is better suited to certain situations and, as a result, some characters act as a counter to other characters.

For example, the support hero Lifeweaver can counter a few characters such as Roadhog, who will hook a friendly hero into the enemy team, normally leading to death, but with Lifeweaver’s Life Grip the Roadhog hook becomes a lot less effective, making Lifeweaver a small counter to Roadhog.
Lifeweaver
Lifeweaveris a support hero in Overwatch 2 and comes with a lot of technical abilities that can be used to reposition his teammates. He has a large hitbox with only 200 health, and compared to other supports like Ana, Mercy, and Baptise, Lifeweaver doesn’t do a great job of direct healing.
There are plenty of positives to this new hero, though, with his powerful ultimate that makes up for the lack of healing and his abilities that allow teammates to be saved where other supports would fall short. However, when looking at how to counter a hero it is best to look at their weaknesses.

So, in no particular order, here areten counters to Lifeweaver.
Tank Counters
As Lifeweaver’s basic attack for healing and damage are both projectiles, he will bespending a lot of time in the back linesof a fight, unlike AOE healers likeLucioorBrigitte.
Being in the back lines makes Lifeweaver susceptible to dive tanks.

D.va
D.vais a very strong pick for countering Lifeweaver.
D.va’sDefence Matrixstops Lifeweaver’s basic attack as it is a projectile. This means that when a D.va flies over to attack a Lifeweaver, they can only attempt to escape as there is little hope of winning the fight.
However, with Lifeweaver’s small HP pool, D.va is able toutilise her missiles to quickly secure the kill, making it very difficult for the support to back out of a situation where a D.va decides to try and get the elimination on them.

By the time D.va gets the kill, they will be able to fly back towards the front lines of the team rejoining the fight within a couple of seconds of leaving.
Winston
Winstonis similar to D.va in that he can effectively get in and out of the back lines.
AsLifeweaver’s healing cannot go through shields, Winston can completely cut the support out of the fight. All Winston has to do is jump into the air and land on a lonely Lifeweaver. This will do damage on impact and thenyou can place his shield on the ground surrounding the Lifeweaver.

With the shield up, the other support will not be able to heal Lifeweaver and the DPS, so the other tank will not be able to shoot at you, making it exceedingly easy to secure a quick kill before jumping back out of the fight to be healed.
Whilst Winston’s damage output isn’t necessarily high,Lifeweaver only has his dash to give him slight healing in a fight, which won’t be enough to evade or escape death.

Doomfist
Due to his smaller health pool,Doomfistcan struggle to get in the backline and secure a kill if you don’t pay proper attention to his ability cooldowns.
However, he can be considered a good counter here because ofhisincredible mobility, which can work against the repositioning tools Lifeweaver offers.

If Lifeweaver takes thehigh ground using his Petal Platform, then Doomfist can justfling himself into the sky with his Seismic Slam and land on the platform, with a possible punch as a follow-up, sending Lifeweaver soaring across the map.
Also, Doomfist’s smaller HPcan be slightly neglected here. When killed, Lifeweaver will drop hisParting Gift, which can bepicked up by enemies to heal for 75 health, allowing Doomfist to survive a little more effectively after securing the kill.

DPS Counters
As already mentioned,Lifeweaver doesn’t have much ability to heal himselfin a one-on-one situation and will need to rely on his movement abilities to come out better in a fight. As a result, heroes that can do this better will naturally come out on top in a fight, along with heroes that can dispose of Lifeweaver quickly.
WhilstTraceris effective at chasing her target quickly, she is not on this list as she has no way of moving vertically, making it a massive challenge to get a kill on a Lifewaver when they use Petal Platform to escape.

Genji
Genjiis an easy pick here to deal with Lifeweaver.
Deflecting will stop all damage the support can do to youand his dash allows Genji to find Lifeawever wherever he may try to run to.
You can also use hisLife Grip against him. If your team wears down an enemy enough for them to be Life Gripped back to their backline, you can simply dash in, secure the kill, and then pick off the Lifeweaver as well, allowing for a relatively easy double kill so long as you are in the right position.

If a Lifeweaver tries to escape a Genji using the Petal Platform, he can justdash up and utilise his double jumpto easily get to the high-ground.
Sombra
Any hero who is reliant on their abilities can be dangerously affected by a Sombra hack. That’s whySombraisone of the most versatile heroes for countering an enemy.
Hacked enemies take more damageand once a Lifeweaver has their abilities taken away, there will be next to nothing they can do to stop a Sombra from killing them.

Once again, as Lifeweaver has a decently large body and stature, it is easy for a Sombra to sneak up and target him, lining up a headshot whilst invisible, making it difficult for the support to react quickly enough to escape.
Widowmaker
Lifeweaver is a pretty tall hero and an easy target for a lot of decentWidowmakerplayers. As the support only has 200 health, a singlewell-placed headshot will be enough to take them out of the fight.
Using Petal Platform is advantageous to you, as it will give you a nice clear shot of your target where they have no cover around them (so long as you are also on the high ground).
There is no concern about Lifeweaver being a threat to you, asnone of their abilities can move you away from your position, and even when Tree of Life is being used, it only heals characters and doesn’t grant additional health like Brigitte or Lucio, meaning that you can still get headshot kill on the smaller enemies.
Echo
Echois another solid DPS pick to counter Lifeweaver. She has great maneuverability with her flight, which allows her toreach Lifeweaver wherever he is.
Her abilities are incredibly effective and she caneasily eliminate heroes that are caught out of positionand cannot quickly heal or escape her.
Echo’s beam will do increased damage to a hero under half health, which means that you can do some quick damage with your basic attack and other abilities, and by the time you reach Lifeweaver in the back lines, you can quickly finish them off, before returning back to your team.
Pharah
A character that has no problem getting a line of sight on their targets,Pharahdoes a good job of taking out Lifeweavers.
Life Grip becomes less usefulas you’re able to simply shoot your projectile at the weakened hero, which will hopefully kill them and do some splash damage to Lifeweaver. Then, you just need to finish them off.
you may use yourConcussion Grenadeto push players off the Petal Platform and away from the Tree of Life if necessary.
AsLifeweaver has a projectile weapon, they will have adifficult time dealing with you when you are up in the skies, which will also take their focus away from the rest of his team.
Support Counters
In an ordinary fight, two supports are unlikely going to fight one another in a one-on-one situation, butthere are some support heroes that can aid the rest of the team to make Lifeweaver feel a lot more redundant.
Whilst people will be diving a Lifeweaver in most situations, fights can end up in strange positions, depending on the maps. On control maps, teams tend to have to play closer to each other so that they can remain on point, making fights more reliant on who can heal more efficiently.
One of the main things to take into consideration here isLifeweaver’s minimal healing outputand how other support will keep their other heroes alive for longer.
Mercy
In situations where raw healing is important,Mercybecomes a tough hero to play against for Lifeweaver.
Overall,Mercy will simply out-heal Lifeweaver in team fights. In a situation where the team dives a Lifeweaver, Mercy can make it so that they survive for a lot longer, amplifying the damage doneso Lifeweaver is taken out as quickly as possible.
Tree of Life grants cover to everyone, unlike shields, which give an aiming advantage to the team who placed them. This means that if Mercy uses her ultimate and Lifeweaver does the same,Mercy will do roughly as much healing as the tree, allowing the rest of the team to fight around the tree to try and push the enemies away from it, cutting off their extra healing.
Ana
Like with Widowmaker,Anawill be able to find Lifeweaver easily around the map and get a few easy shots on him.
Hergrenade will also counteract Lifeweaver’s ultimate Tree of Lifeif timed correctly, stopping the initial burst of healing it does upon being placed. As an added bonus, an enemy that is hit with Ana’s grenadewill not be cleansed when Life Grip is used on them.
One negative with playing Ana against Lifeweaver is that if an enemy has been slept and your team is about to secure a kill on them, a Lifeweaver could easilyuse Life Grip to bring them to safety. This makes for an interesting game where both Ana and Lifeweaver work well against each other, countering the other in some way, creating a fun, challenging match that tests your skill as either character.
