The ninth Expedition to come toNo Man’s Sky, Utopia is all about helping the foundation of the same name rebuild a solar system. However, despite its warm and friendly name, the Expedition can throw some serious curveballs at you along the way.

The biggest of these is that you’re largely restricted to performing actions at your base. Once you leave its boundaries, you won’t be able to craft any resources, upgrade any equipment, or install new technology. This guide aims to help you ‘speedrun’ the Expedition, so you can leave your base safe in the knowledge that you’ll be able to complete your tasks.
Utopia Expedition Format
As with most Expeditions in No Man’s Sky,Utopia follows a core gameplay loop. This one is relatively simple given it takes place within a single solar system, andyou won’t need to hop with the Warp Driveand use up expensive or rarer resources.
In general, you’ll head to a planet, seek out a location for a base, and thencomplete a couple of tasks that are relevant to that planet. These range from killing Biological Horrors toscaling a volcano, butultimately they’re not too difficult. Many tasks can be completed anywhere, too, meaning you can cut corners and save time.

Total Resources Needed
Here’s what you’ll needas a bare minimumto complete the Utopia Expedition. Be mindful that you’ll need to do quite a lot of mining for core resources, as they won’t be readily available elsewhere.
Also remember thatany crafting must be done within the confines of your base.

Expedition Phase One Tips
We’d absolutely recommendbuilding an Exocraft Summoning Station on New Kehille. You’ll need to unlock it with Nanites through theUtopia Build Station, and craft it using 80 Uranium, 60 Tritium, and one Unstable Plasma, but once you do you’ll be able tocall upon the Nomad Exocraft on any planet. Trust us, you’ll need it.
Other Phase Tasks To Complete On New Kehille
There are several other tasks from future phases you cancomplete on the first planet, New Kehille. You’ll want to do this purely because of its favorable conditions for survival, such as alack of Sentinelsgenerally floating about.
Phase Two
Albumen Spawn
Find fiveAlbumen PearlsfromHumming Sacsfound underground. There are plenty of caves on New Kehille that will negate the instant Wanted level from Sentinels.
Companionship
Adopt a companion by feeding an animal someCreature Pellets, crafted in your inventory from Carbon.
Phase Three
Fauna Marine
Once you have yourAnalysis Visor, find a large body of water and scan for underwater creatures.
You can harvestLiving Pearlsin large bodies of water.
Local Delicacies
Craft theHaz-Mat Gauntlet, a reward for completing Albumen Spawn. Refine a singleImpulse Beanin the Nutrient Processor to makeBittersweet Cocoa. HarvestStar Brambleplants to getStar Bulbs, then refine those in the Nutrient Processor to getPilgrimberries. One of these can then be refined further to makePilgrim’s Tonic
Sentinels will still appearwhen you perform aggressive actions, such as open up a Sentient Plant (Albumen Pearls found on the surface) or attack a Manufacturing Facility.
Going For Gold
Another thing you’ll want to do on this planet iskeep an eye out for Metal Fingers. They appear as a gold icon with three stars when using the scanner, and look like small towers of golden balls stacked on top of one another.Mining them provides a ton of Gold and Uranium.
One set of Fingers should provideenough fuel for your Starship to last the entire Expedition. Uranium recharges the Launch Thrusters, while you canrefine the Gold into Pyriteto use on recharging the Pulse Engine.
